I don't know; I never watch it.

There are some wonderful classic pieces of children's TV made in Britain though. If you're ever in need of inspiration then they are well worth seeking out.

Luckily (and thankfully) my cartoon-watching days were over by the time the "golden days" you speak of died out. Spongebob was the transition, he was our Obama of the day, telling you, "TIME FOR CHANGE."

The OP had some good stuff in his post. Rocko's was great, I'll never forget the classic episode that featured "ALL RIDES FOR $5."
Ed, Edd, & Eddy was cool for a while at least, not to mention they made jawbreakers popular again. I was just thinking the other day about an ironic moment in which how Japanese are stereotypically the kings of technology yet the Japanese kid Rolf had a TV with a 1-inch size screen. But then again it could have been a racist double-entendre about the Asian kid having the smallest toy on the block.
Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers was a favorite... "CHEE-EE-EEE-EEEEZZE!!"
Dexter's Lab was cool, too. Wierd though that before I saw the pilot, I thought that his big sister was his little sister, as she certainly acted like it.

GRAVY!!

Up until the last time I remember my brother still watching cartoons before I moved out, there was this show he was watching on Nick in the living room, and it was in 2D but very lame/childish, something about ducks in it with some other random animals. The episode was about this one character trying to ask out another character. When he failed, he was getting teased by another one for not having the guts to ask her out.
And I've heard the word "damn" in it. And it wasn't technically an adult-themed cartoon like South Park or Family Guy, at least if its plotline and language is suitable for children.

Pretty much everything we watched as kids sucked; you're looking at them through nostalgia goggles.

I agree that generally children's shows were better in the 90's, possibly late 80's than more recent ones, and certainly much better than what my parents' generation had to endure. Still, I find comedies for adults are so bad nowadays that if I want to watch something to laugh and relax, I watch children's shows. Even some of the modern ones beat the hell out of comedies for adults.

Agreed. I personally find The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and Animaniacs to be funnier than The Simpsons, South Park, and Family Guy put together each.

I think that was Duckman, if I'm not mistaken.

Agreed about Animaniacs, I haven't watched The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.

I second that agreement. What I liked most about that show was the humor only adults could get hidden within the kids show, without having to resort to cheap fart jokes.

I don't even watch Disney anymore. All their shows are lame. Especially Hannah Montana. And the only shows I watch on Nick are Fairly OddParents, Spongebob, and iCarly. And don't get me started on Cartoon Network--all they have is that gross-out humor that's overused. Whatever happened to Rugrats? Ducktales? Dexter's Lab? Power Puff Girls? Looney Tunes...the list goes on and on. Bring THOSE back!

It's so weird. When I was a kid in the 80's many people (adults mostly) said the cartoons that were on then were really bad. Most of them were half-hour commercials for toys like Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Pony and He-Man and, oh yeah, the Transformers! But now those toys and characters are popular again. But the new shows of them stink. :x IDK maybe it's just cause they're not the same as they were when I was a kid but they're just stupid. In fact nearly all cartoons and kiddy shows on TV now are stupid. :x ...Oh no! I think I've become one of those adult critics I knew as a kid! 8O

Not all kids are into todays stuff. My little sister, for example, told me to tell people to stop watching the Disney channel so the old stuff can go back on the air. Plus, she can't stand today's t.v.

Here's the following shows she likes:
*Pee-wee's Playhouse (her favorite character is Pterri and the dinosaur family)
*Looney Toons (especially Porky Pig)
*Spongebob Squarepants (first only show she'll watch on Nick)
*Thundercats
*Icarly (probably the second only show she'll watch on Nick)
*Legends of the Hidden Temple
*Jetsons
*Flintstones
*Yogi Bear
*Anything old Disney
*Powerpuff Girls

Blame the witchcraft known as political correctness for getting rid of the shows we know and loved. It's bad enough that they want to get rid of manga, anime, and video games.

I also asked her if any of the kids in her school watch Fanboy and Chum-Chum. She replied that they only watch it to "make fun of it".

I completely agree. I grew up in the 90's and Nick has changed a lot since. Disney Channel is also a dissapointment. What happend to Disney Channel movies every night at 8? I find kids TV today to be idiotic.

Good cartoons from the 90's and early 2000
Rocket Power
Rugrats
Kenan and Kell
Courage
Dexter
Cow and Chicken
Doug
Are you afraid of the Dark?
Goosebumps
Wishbone
All Grown Up
early Pokemon episodes
Angry Beavers
Hey Arnold
Ren and Stimpy
Ahh Real Monsters

What happend to kids television?

Beatlegal, good for your sister, and her schoolmates. It's good to see that the cartoons of yesterday still have the power to entertain today's youth. :)

What I think happened was the following:

1. Political correcteness.

2. The need to appeal to both the preteen girl crowd and preteen boy crowd, just preteens, no healthy medium, nobody else.

3. Laziness in storytelling and style.

While it is likely this "new' generation may like old school shows, and things might possibly (BIG maybe) improve in Nick, Cartoon Network, or Disney studios, I'm not really going to hold my breath for this decade. :x
