Love Star Wars I do. Often found great wisdom in the words of master Yoda I have.

Hmm... NJO is not a bad series. Not always good, but certainly not bad. Though it's not as "Star Warsy" as things like the Thrawn trilogy. The last book in the series, The Unifying Force is amazing though. It's worth buying even if you don't have all the books in the series, which I don't. Not all of them really matter like all the books in other series do. Traitor and The Unifying Force are two of the more momorable ones though.

Legacy of the Force though, I had heard so many had things about the series that I didn't buy any of the books until this year. The first book is good, I like the story so far.

Anyway, they should be worth the money, depending on how much you like Star Wars literature.

I don't find NJO bad. I read Vector Prime in 7th grade 4 or 5 years ago and much of onslaught directly after. They don't exactly capture Star Wars, but few EU books do. The only ones are the Thrawn trilogy(I only read half of Heir, so I'm going by what you said), Shadows of The Empire, The Force Unleashed, and Star Wars Legacy along with some others. I didn't even think the prequels captured the spirit of Star Wars.

That aside, I want to address the Vader/ Luke issue. It wasn't until Luke became a rebel hero during the 3 year gap between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back that Vader caught wind of his Luke's name. Skywalker is not a common name as far as I know. Even though he knew Luke was force sensitive and that Obi-wan was probably training him, Padme's funeral was specifically arranged so that it looked as if she died before giving birth so he thought his child died. I think he found out about Leia because Luke was really intent on protecting her from him. When he[Luke] became filled with emotion on the second death star during the duel, Vader picked up this tidbit through the force.

I love the Star Wars Radio Dramas. They're like the movies but with added scenes so that the whole adaptation of one movie totals 4 and a half hours. There are things like an explanation of how Leia got the Death Star Plans, a moment where Luke discusses with Biggs about his aspirations to leave his mark on the galaxy while Biggs explains that he wants to join the Rebellion because the Empire had slaughtered a bunch of his friends for treason. There's even a part with Luke's future wife Mara Jade disguised as a dancer in Jabba's Palace. The sound effects, music, and acting quality makes it feel like your watching an extended version of the actual movies.

Heres a link to listen to the radio adaptations from my friend's website: http://swgfa.com/topic/1211/master/1/?page=1

The Vong aren't really typical Star Wars enemies, so they don't capture the "spirit" of it. The series as a whole isn't bad, but it does drag on at times. Betrayal captures some of that "swashbuckling" spirit again in places, and is a good read.

Then again, I liked the prequels more than the OT for the most part. I suspect it's for the same reason so many like the OT, nostalgia, Episode 1 was my first Star Wars film and I loved it as a 4 year old. Still love it now, even though the faults are obvious.

Return of the Jedi though, I always hated that. I can't sit through that film. It's just a terrible film, Ewoks, muppets, the overuse of the word "destiny", the lack of effort put into the acting, the boring fight scenes, the Ewoks, the dance at the end, Jabba's palace, the re-use of the Death Star, the Ewoks, etc.

The Phantom Menace was my third film and I liked it for many years until I figured out it just made no sense. I don't hate Jar-Jar, I actually liked him to be honest, and I still do. I saw the OT three years before I saw PT, so it's the OT that is nostalgic for me.

I love ROTJ. I don't really mind the Ewoks because I grew up watching the film, having first seen it at 3.

Also, I wanted to ask you something. Do you think they should ever make Shadows of The Empire into a movie. I mean, it had a book, a video game, action figures, a soundtrack, trading cards, a comic, and a sequel(also a comic), etc. Or maybe the Thrawn trilogy into a trilogy? I mean, they can use computer animation like the clone wars does and get the original actors. I personally would love to see that. and another idea for a trilogy would be the three main books of Tales of The Jedi. Tales of The Jedi had a radio adaptation, so why not? It'll answer the pleas of those fans that think Kotor should be made into a movie becase it takes place a couple of decades before Kotor and it's structured in a way so that a trilogy could be made for it.

I have to say that I really don't get much out of the Vong books. They're annoying and too much like normal Sci-Fi.

I like;
The Original Trilogy (obviously ep5 is my favourite)
The New Trilogy (obviously ep3 is my favourite but I have a soft spot for TPM because I thought the concepts were very clever. I don't see how it "makes no sense" - it's very clear to me).

Outside of the Movies;

Shadow of the Empire is pretty official
Splinter of the Mind's Eye probably isn't - just doesn't feel right.
The first Timothy Zahn trilogy is great though and has a real Star Wars feel to it.
There's also a "Bounty Hunter Wars" series which is pretty amazing.
On the game front, the Dark Forces Series, Kotor series and possibly the Force Unleashed feel Canon.

I feel that the Star Wars universe still has a lot of room for stories but that they probably need to move away from the Jedi and OT Characters a bit - and stop naming children with silly names (Anakin, Jacen and Janina). They were great for Young Readers series (which were generally very good) but don't translate well into adult novels. (IMHO).

It wouldn't be too bad. Shadows of the Empire seemed written so that it might be able to be turned into a movie. It certainly wouldn't be a children's film, with all the sex references and criminal activity. Still, that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

The Thrawn Trilogy would make an excellent trilogy, they capture the Star Wars spirit and they have a good story. Many fans consider them the unofficial third trilogy anyway.

Kotor took place 4000 years before any of the other movies, but it could work. As could Tales of the Jedi. They might stuff it up though, and because there were so many ingame options they could only take one path, which would annoy many people. I can't say that it would be bad, because it wouldn't be, it was an excellent game as was the sequel.

It's hard to tell what would be a good movie, any of these options could be good in theory but terrible in reality. I doubt Lucas will make more anyway, he seems to be more interested in the various TV series he has going.

The "Heir to the Empire" series would make the best movies.

I don't see what it is people like about Episodes 1-3. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, but the prequels make me gag and vomit.

I can tolerate Ep 3 aside from the awful dialogue between Anakin and Padme
[Anakin:You're so beautiful.]
Padme:Only because I'm so in love.] 8O
and the awful"She's lost the will to live" explanation for Padme's death.

If they made Shadows as a cartoon, it could still be pg-13. I mean, look at where the Clone Wars is going, with all the terrorist attacks and that moment where the Mando committed suicide and when Master Ropal was tortured to death.

I would not however want to see a Kotor film. It wouldn't translate well. Tales of The Jedi would if you used the Knights of the Old Republic, Dark Lords of The Sith, and The Sith War. The Naddist Uprising can be skipped as it's unimportant as can Redemption because it doesn't need a movie.

That aside, does anyone here costume? I'm going to start making my scout trooper costume over summer break. I'm getting a job for the sole purpose of acquiring all the necessary parts and the armor kit. My friends from the local 501st say that a scout trooper costume can cost 600 USD to make. I guess that means no new games, warhammer minis, or DnD sourcebooks for me this summer. I already have a jedi costume that I'm wearing to Celebration 5. I'll post pics up eventually..

Though a direct KOTOR movie may not be a good idea, but there could be one with references. I know that Revan's story is not complete yet, apparently he just dissapeared becaus there was another threat beyond known spaceand he was actually preparing for it, and not even thoes closest to him know. Though it probably be a game, it could be interesting to have a new hero, might come across characters like HK again, and the return of Revan.

Star Wars nerd here. :salut: I have been since the first film (*and my girlfriend is also which is awesome Image )

My favorite film Is The Empire Strikes Back. I love the overall feel of the film, the color scheme (Dark blue, white, gray), the AT-ATs (which by the way is my cat's names). My favorite characters are Boba Fett, General Grievous, Han Solo, and many others.

The events of Tales of The Jedi are referenced heavily in KOTOR. Jolee talks about The Sith War and Exar Kun and how his wife was brainwashed by the Dark Side and joined Kun and his disciples. You can find Nomi Sunrider's cloak and saber crystal. Also, Vima Sunrider was originally going to be in the game, but she was replaced by Bastilla Shan. And Naga Sadow, Freedon Nadd, the planet Onderon and it's moon Djun, the Enclave on Dantooine, and Korriban are all introduced in Tales of The Jedi. Even KOTOR's name was taken from the name of the first story arc of Tales of The Jedi.

I went to my first convention in my new jedi robes. The only picture I've found(it's an ugly one though) can be found here: http://photos.jacksonville.com/mycapture/enlarge.asp?image=30513533&event=1039102&CategoryID=14633

I'm going to be at celebration 5 in a few weeks. They say it'll be the largest one yet. I was surprised that the city chosen to host CV was Orlando which is about 3 hours south of where I live. I'll be sure to take pictures and put them up here.
