My list is pretty extensive, and I'm working off the top of my head here. I will try to restrict myself to films where the sexuality of the protagonists is central to the film, rather than an incidental characteristic.
For brevity, I will leave out titles already mentioned.
And the Band Played On--This is one of the more important films to document our recent history
Another Country--Rupert Everett, Cary Elwes and Colin Firth in the flower of youth!
Beautiful Thing--very apt title
Bent--The holocaust happened to us, too. (And there's Clive Owen! )
Bishonen--a tearjerker from Hongkong
The Boys in the Band--I had to think about this one--but it's important enough as an historical work to make the cut.
Broken Hearts Club
C.R.A.Z.Y.--Québec during the quiet revolution.
Edge of Seventeen--Best. Soundtrack. Ever.
The Hanging Garden--another little Canadian gem
I Think I Do
In and Out--but only for Kevin Kline's scene with the self-improvement tape
Jeffrey--Patrick Stewart's peformance is fabulous!
Krampack (Nico and Dani)
Lillies--another terrific Canadian film
The Living End
Longtime Companion--a story set in a crucial time
Love! Valour! Compassion!
M. Butterfly
Maurice--Merchant Ivory tackling an important literary chapter in our history
Milk--our political "coming of age"
My Beautiful Laundrette
Parting Glances--a little slice of the 80's
Peter's Friends
Le Placard (The Closet)
Priest
The Sum of Us--if only for Russel Crowe mooning over John Polson
Torch Song Trilogy
Trick
The Wedding Banquet
Zero Patience--a charming musical (and another Canadian film )
