That I have watched voluntarily? End of Evangelion, Silent Hill, Lost Highway, and Jacob's Ladder come pretty high up the list. Nineteen Eighty-Four and V for Vendetta were disturbing, but more about a purely more mundane horror than the others.

I'm not much of a horror person, to be honest. There are plenty of Doctor Who stories, though, that I was disturbed by, but that's TV, not film.

While I haven't seen it, and won't by the way, The Human Centipede's reputation as a very disgusting movie isn't questionable, just read the synopsis on Wikipedia and you'll be turned away from this movie.

What's even more disturbing is that there's a sequel planned.

For me:

Requiem For A Dream
The Devil's Rain (well, the end of it)
28 Days Later
Akira
An American Crime
Full Metal Jacket

Hostel. Anyone who likes that movie is severely disturbed and probably has ASPD.

Also surprised nobody has mentioned Un Chien Andalou. For a 20-minute film it's pretty freaky.

I watched it last year, expecting to have my mind blown. I guess it was too hyped for too many years before I actually saw it because I just found it kind of boring.

I thought The Ring was quite creepy. Normally I find horror movies hilarious because they are so cliched, or I find them too gory for my tastes. The Ring was done quite well though, especially since the villian was a child.

Have you seen the original version, Ringu? I thought it was done much better, but I'm biased towards originals. I hate how a lot of the horror/thriller flicks from the last few years were remakes of asian films. The Ring/2, The Stepfather, One Missed Call, The Grudge, etc.

Anyone ever see Shinya Tsukamoto's Tetsuo: The Iron Man? Now that is one effed-up movie. Maggots in the metal fetishist's leg... *shudder*

The original Ring was pretty weird, in a gets-under-your-skin kind of way.

Human Centipede

Surgeon kidnaps a guy and two girls, slices the tendons on their knees so they can't stand, removes their teeth and surgically attaches the mouth of girl 1 to the guy's anus, and the mouth of girl 2 to the anus of girl 1, thus making a "Human centipede." He makes them walk around and stuff and keeps them as a pet.

Wow glad I won't ever want to see this, takes a very disturbed mind to make trash like this, can't imagine
why anyone would find any entertainment value in this other then to satisfy some sick fantasies they have.

I generally try to avoid disturbing movies as movies have a large impact on me.
I don't have any desire to watch Salo, Akira, Oldboy, Cannibal Holocaust, The Human Centipede, Hostel etc etc...
Strangely i'm attracted to movies about drug addictions. They fascinate me. I own Candy and Trainspotting. Movies that are in my movie collection are movies that i can watch frequently.

The movies that left me feeling completely empty were Deer Hunter and Apocalypse Now. both amazing movies but ug....
