Why do a lot of men hate Twilight so passionately?

I don't hate it and I can't say I dislike it: I simply have no interest in watching it. But from what I heard, it could be one of those so bad it's good movies. Anyway, I avoid commenting on it, since I know almost nothing about it.

@chinatown: Sir, I must inform you that I find that image very offensive. Please, refrain to post such things on these forums.

*types the title of some definitely unrelated movie in the Torrent Search

I heard that a lot of the hate started to go around when it was becoming really popular among females, and then a lot of them started going "Why are you not more like Edward", guys started to be held to unrealistic levels. Not to mention they were being told they were worse then a 100 hundred year old sparkly guy who stalks a teenage girl.

Whats worse is seeing all the middle aged women fall over these young actors, everyone would seriously be up in arms if the genders were reversed.

I don't think I need to get started on vampires in the sunlight, hey vampires don't need to catch fire, that was invented in the movie Nosferatu, but usually had some hinderence not looking like diamonds.

Oh really? I haven't heard of any such riots at the hundreds of thousands of

Give me a break.
The same scene in that demotiv happens every day a thousand times over,
usually in a far more sexualized context than Twilight's PG themes,
only it's old men ogling young women.

The genders ARE reversed this time- and that seems to be a cause for a lot of the hostility.

You seem a bit dismissive on this...if there were an equal and opposite reaction where men were, say, openly drooling (to the point of creating signs advertising their advanced age) over someone like Hermoine Granger from Harry Potter, would you not feel that it's going a bit far?

Note: I don't particularly find Rule 34 to be an equal reaction as I described above.

Double Standard's in everything. Nothing to get worked up about, but I will say as my opinion that women seem to get more sexual thrill out of books and stories and men seem to get more out of images and videos.

Unrelated: Someone created Rule 34 of the girl from the animated Fanta advertisments. The Rules of the Internet triumph again.

It's not just the guys who bash twilight mercilessly. There are intelligent women out there who bash twilight even MORE mercilessly than the guys do.

I don't hate it (being a guy), but it is overhyped from my experience with the first film.

I felt like it was more like Romeo and Juliet...only Juliet wanting to be killed by everyone in the village and Romeo defending her with his every bone in his body but understands why everyone hates Juliet so much.

That was the vibe I got...and if that is the case...Romeo's family accept her as their own despite the urges from them.

Twilight's lack of action in the first film made me not want to watch the others...but I can see why Tweens would like a lack of quality filming/gaming/music these days...it's all gone to pot.

@Asp-Z: I laughed at the comic.

The quality of the writing is pretty atrocious, but it's still an interesting take on the faerie myths - although I'm not used to them being so weak and nice. I am still trying to figure out where the vampires are supposed to come into this and why Meyer keeps using that word about the faeries. I haven't had any success figuring it out, but my current theory is an erroneous thesaurus.

I have better things to jerk off to than Kirsten Stewart, like Molly Ringwald, thank you very much!

I'm a manm I admit I watch the movies, I watch a lot of movies, and Twilight passes the time better than a lot of the ones I see. I am mystified as to why Bella likes Edward, a cold, arrogant vampire versus Jacob, who is the very embodiment of man's best friend? :D

I saw one of the Twilight films (New Moon) in theatres for a date. I was bored to death, my date noticed it, never saw her again.

Twilight: necrophilia vs. bestiality.

Basically.

Newsfhash for you, those are, pretty much, of legal age.

What it means is that men drooling towards 17 year old girls, the problem being they are underage, and the gender being reversed, will put the word "pedophiles" in the open against these men, (probably by women, but by other men as well), that doesn't seem to happen with the older women doing this, if so, then I'd like to see it.

17 is underage? I'm guessing "of age" is 18 or 21 in the US?

In the UK, the age of consent of 16, but I mean, even if it was 18, I still wouldn't say someone attracted to a 17 year old was a pedophile, that's stupid.
