I really do like Glee, but I really hate Sugar flipping Motta! At first I was glad that they had an Aspie in the show, but then I heard what she was saying, and I was like WTF?!
I still love Glee, but the writers have really got to get a reality check - or at least Google, so they can find out about real Aspergers.
BTW I have Aspergers, and although I may sometomes say awkward things, I am not like her, and I am sure that other aspies will agree with me!

Redboo you have to appreciate that the things said about aspies are not the only heartless things they say or do on Glee.

Why do I need to give you ten? I can give you one big one. The central group in the show is picked on by the school Gym coach all the damned time, and it aint light-hearted. It's outrageously callous in fact how she does it. Do I need to go over that in further detail?

It's very appalling. But GLEE is a drama show and it's part of showbiz, they'll step on anything just to get an audience. I have never seen anyone use it as an excuse In real life. I was diagnosed at age 15. The times I have been arrested, suspended, failed a class, forgot to pay a bill, I excepted that as my responsibility. I was alway sort of afraid publicly admit that I had the diagnosis.

Classmate: you're not Asperger's are you?
Me:... I am...
Classmate: but glee...
Me: :x

It's not just a stereotype thing. It twists people's minds.

This is true- I am bisexual and also an aspie, so homophobia and sterotypism really bugs me!

No. That Glee s**t should not be soiling the already badly stereotyped name of Asperger's. It's ruining enough things already, not least the songs they do covers of.

I do genuinely like Glee, and yes some of the songs they do are quite bad, but I like it.

I used to LOVE Glee, to be honest. But it just fell flat for me (problems with the fandom being idiots).

And I have to say that I hate, with all my heart and soul, HATE Sugar Motta. I don't mean to be getting out my soapbox here but her character is incredibly offensive.

i used to love glee. i still watch it, but it's just not as good.
and yeah, Sugar's 'diagnosis' pisses me off too. i don't think it was mentioned in any of the more recent episodes featuring her character. i think it was meant as a sort of joke at people who use it as an excuse, like some other people have already said.
regardless of its intentions, however, it does give Aspies a bad name. :c

You see it a lot on deviantArt and YouTube. It's mainly kids between 13-20 that decide to self diagnose because they think it's cool. Most of them don't even have AS, but are just trolls.

Yeah, you do see it a lot. Some aren't trolling, but use whatever condition they have as a "hey, it's totally not my fault card." In the 90s, that card was A.D.D. Now, it's A.S. Sometimes you'll see it here or elsewhere as a crutch... which is about the same thing as "diplomat's daughter."

Everyone wants special treatment these days. Sooner or later we'll all have some claim to special treatment... then what? We're all special and will list all our conditions to each other upon meeting someone?

I never could get into Glee, but for a different reason. I kind of find it annoying how everyone my age acts like they are really into older music just because they saw Glee's version of it. Like the song "Boogie Shoes" by KC and the Sunshine Band. I was listening to it one day, and a friend comes up and tells me how much she likes that song. I asked her if she liked any of the band's other songs. "No, I just remember seeing this one on Glee". Ugh.

Is it just me?
