The Music Man. The Lion King was pretty good too... it had some interesting effects.

Anything Goes and Bye Bye Birdie were my favorites to play (I played trombone for musicals throughout high school).

I once sang the choruses to Grease, it was pretty good too. Music Man wasn't bad, although I was just a spectator there.

Ah, the musical. Now we're talkin'. My parents got me hooked in kindergarten.

"Meet Me in St. Louis" ( I watch it every Halloween & Xmas)
"The Man of La Mancha" ("Dulcinea" is probably my favorite song of all)
"Brigadoon"
"Camelot"
"Godspell" (silly, yes, but it makes me all happy inside)
"All That Jazz" (sure, it's only movie, a thinly veiled, autobiographical film about Bob Fosse, but it's one of my faves).

If it can be both movies and theatre then:
The Lion King
The Addams Family Musical
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Evita
Chicago
All That Jazz
Mary Poppins
The Phantom of the Opera
Sweeney Todd
Moulin Rouge
The Producers

I generally don't like musicals, but there are a few that work for me:

Sweeny Todd
Company
All That Jazz (although strangely I keep forgetting it's a musical since the music occurs naturally within the plot of the film... until the end that is..)
The Black Rider
The American Astronaut
Forbidden Zone

Obviously my tastes tend toward the dark and absurd.

I'd have to say Audrey Hepburn's My Fair Lady, but the Nicole Kidman Moulin Rouge is greater. I'm not a fan of musicals, and only seen a few so a bigger picture by me can't be shown.

Most definately agree in terms of my fave on stage and the film adaptation by Bruckheimer was fairly good, however my favourite film adaptation of a musical is and forever will be Grease. :D
