Well yeah, the technology to cryogenically freeze human beings still doesn't exist.

Particularly any movie where it has too much use of strong profane language, namely words that start with S and F that many people like to say, due to my high sensitivity of them.

Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker - Make absolutely NO SENSE, and, along with the first two in the Sequel Trilogy, utterly disregarded the EU.

Music - Absolute hogwash; a mountain-sized bird flip towards the autistic community (Why, Sia, just.....WHYYYYY??! !)

Beauty and the Beast (live-action remake) - Not as good as the animated original, IMHO.

The Lion King (live-action remake) - Same as Beauty and the Beast.

Newer MCU films - has unnecessarily gotten either too crude or too gritty, or both.

Artemis Fowl - NOT at all like the book series!

And, due to being sex-averse, I also do not like to watch films that involves anything pornographic, in addition to the fact that those films also tend to be VERY sexist.

So what are some movies that you refuse to see? Whether it's because they are poorly made or because they contain horrendously offensive content. There's no limit to having reasons to write off a particular film.

Here's my list:

Cannibal Holocaust
A Serbian film
The Human Centipede
Faces of Death
Cannibal Ferox
Ichi the Killer
I Spit on Your Grave
Salo: the 120 days of Sodom
Gummo
Any more movies made by Jason Friedberg & Aaron Seltzer
Any more movies made by Uwe Boll
Any more movies made by Michael Bay

Movie I refuse to watch

Horror movies in general and particularly Man's Best Friend

Other movies I refuse to watch

Gremlins
Harry Potter movies
Newer Star Wars movies

That was my first thought when I saw the title of this thread. When I read about an interview where the director of the film said that he changed Artemis to be more relatable, I knew it was going to be bad. He's a criminal mastermind, he's already compelling - he doesn't need to be relatable. Besides, whenever directors say they want to create a relatable character what they usually mean is "I want to make this character as bland and as non-descript as possible so people can project themselves onto them".

Why would I go see a film about a character I like if the character has been changed beyond recognition? The casting is awful as well. At this point, are they even the same story? I mean, they had Artemis surfing - why on Earth would he be surfing? I can't say I've ever associated surfing with Ireland, it's not the type of scene I had in mind. Also, Artemis hates exercise. He goes out of his way to avoid it. As such, he is often bad at direct combat and lacks coordination to an extent. Why make him a pro-surfer? Seems an odd choice to make.

---

On an unrelated note, I typically try to avoid films where the joke is that a character is fat. For example, 'Norbit'. The comedy is so lazy and it gets stale really quickly. I don't mind characters who are fat, but I hate it in films where they have a fat character and all their lines just boil down to "Isn't it funny that I'm fat?" No, it isn't. Stop wasting screen time on this.

Space Jam 2: A New Legacy - a really washed-out sequel of the first Space Jam film. TBH, the first one's WAY better and more enjoyable than ANL! And when they included Michael Jordan in the film, they're talking about the actor Michael B. Jordan, NOT the actual former Basketball star Michael Jordan!

A third Space Jam may happen but with Dwayne Johnson in the lead.

So basically, any movie about the human cost of war? Especially if it involves nuclear holocaust?

I've seen all those except Barefoot Gen, and they are very bleak. :(

Barefoot Gen is just as bleak; it's basically Grave of the Fireflies, but even more tragic and graphic, as it revolves around a boy who lost most of his family to an atomic bomb attack in WWII, and he, his mom, and his newborn sister try to adapt to life afterwards. Very depressing.

Yes, anything that involves nuclear war is nightmare fuel in my book.

Or its aftermath? The video game series Fallout dealt with survivors trying to hopeless rebuilding the civilization that was lost to nuclear war. The first game was especially bleak, but it got lighter and softer the more the series progressed.

I saw a preview once and it showed kids playing football on broomsticks in the sky?

It looked really fake. I hate special effects, and I don't do fantasy.

The Harry Potter films are sadly, awful. I really hope they remake them one day with better child actors and writers because the books deserve better treatment. But if you don't like fantasy in general then yes, I can imagine you'd struggle to enjoy Harry Potter.

I forgot to add that I refuse to watch The Hobbit trilogy because I really can't stand Martin Freeman and his presence in anything ruins it for me. And I love the LOTR trilogy.

I actually like the HP movies. Sure, they're not as good as the book, but they are some good fantasy fun.

Both the HP books and films PALE in comparison to LotR.

The Hobbit I thought was passable, but I won't deny that it had a lot of problems. :(

Wasteland (the game before Fallout 1) was pretty lighthearted, compared to FO1 anyway...

Warcraft

It had cool VFX, but an awful story.

What problems Universal had with Sam Raimi's ideas is anyone's guess.

However, we could get a sequel/reboot Warcraft film within the next 3-4 years.

Anything with Chuck Norris or Mel Gibson. Their religious and political views disgust me.

I hate Mel, but checked out the Passion of the Christ out of curiosity. It was a mess. I've seen a lot of older films with him in it, where his crapinions often show (I distinctly recall homophobia in Braveheart and Lethal Weapon).
I'd rather avoid films he's involved with, but I do intent to see the Mad Max films because of how iconic they are, and nobody can ruin chicken run for me.

I've never seen any film with Chuck Norris in it, except for Way of the Dragon where he gets beaten the sh-t out of by Bruce Lee which is nice.

If you're willing, consider watching the 007 movies that star Roger Moore as Bond.

They're ridiculous and campy, but could keep you entertained enough.
