I used to enjoy a lot of kids shows. The Angry Beavers, Animaniacs, Kenan & Kel, Pinky & the Brain, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, Tiny Toons...

Today I think that kids shows have to be as loud, colorful, fast-paced, and condescending as possible. Older kids shows were entertaining to older viewers, too - lots of more subtle humor. Where has that gone?

I beg to differ. Today's shows are far better than the ones I watched when I was a lad (not so long ago). I loved Batman, X-Men and Spiderman cartoons. I think Samurai Jack, Sponge Bob, Dexter's Lab, Billy and Mandy, Robot Boy and last but not least, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends are all great. All these shows are funny, creative and irreverent.

Most people aren't taught values by TV programmes, parents and teachers instil values. Cartoons are fun!

I used to like Disney when I was younger but only the older stuff is any good, after the Lion King there wasn't much else. Pixar makes the best and funniest animated films anywhere but I also love Cartoon Network.

Anyone remember Two Stupid Dogs? The myopic little red riding hood was great.

I never liked Mickey, I liked the Disney movies like the Jungle Book, Bambi, Dumbo etc but I preferred Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny etc. to Mickey and his minions.

I agree. The Bugs Bunny, Looney Tunes, and Tom and Jerry cartoons were funnier and more entertaining than those Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck cartoons.

I agree.

Kid shows seem to have adult humor in them too now because they're also meant for adults to watch too because its for all ages. I know Spongebob has adult humor in it because my parents told me and my last boyfriend said it was for kids only, and not adults. I also told him Loony Tunes is for all ages and they used to be in theaters back when they used to release cartoons in them. But he still didn't believe me loony tunes wasn't just for kids only. That's an example of a judgmental ignorant narrow minded person. :yawns:

New cartoons I see on today have lot of violence in them. Society has sure changed.

One of most annoying programs were Vbirds when it got to just dancing, I only liked the Sci fi bit.

Ozzy and Drix is educational because it talks about body parts of people.

Rugrats were kind of educational, it teaches what babies think of world and religion

Alvin and Chipmunks are annoying, it bores me.

The most annoying is when the shows kept on repeating and repeating, looking like its forever.

I heard the language of kids shows annoys parents, like mine, most of cartoons I used watch were migrated from America, one time I spoke one of the words in American, my brother said "You're not an American." It annoys me, because I did know it was American, I hate way my brother said it. Programs from American don't translate some of the Americans to English, like elevator to lift. I heard on the radio, kids programs from America, the viewers get affected with the accent.
I'm not being racist, I'm just explaining. I can learn American that way.

"The Batman" is sort of watchable. Some episodes are quite good, others are kind of weak.
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (2003) was actually really good before they revamped it into that blasphemous "Fast Forward" crap.
Other'n that, I haven't seen a good kids show in a long while. Someone told me to check out "Yu-Gi-Oh!". I did. It was the single most stupid cartoon I have ever seen.

I do miss Count Duckula, Tiny Toon Adventures, Darkwing Duck, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain and stuff. Those shows had some quality comedy.
Darkwing Duck even had an episode that parodied Twin Peaks and referenced Gary Larson. That's a sign of writers who write to entertain themselves and eachother instead of hackishly churning out crap for what they assume is an audience of idiots.

Pixar animations have been getting worse, to the extent that I stopped watching them after Cars. Ratatouille really doesn't look that good. Anything else Pixar comes up with will also be rubbish, unless they do Toy Story 3.

Just think about it...Those Looney Tunes, Droopy, and Tom and Jerry cartoons were more violent than those classic Disney cartoons.
