Yeah it came out in December, it takes things to a whole new level.....
What's really weird is apparently they're both considered to be "good" from a movie critic point.

Just finished Dark City.
Something I've been meaning to watch for the longest time.
Ended up being both inspiring and depressing, though I think the latter is at least partially due to my current situation.

The effects might look a bit dated ('98), but overall the flick was visually pleasing.
Neo-noir mystery with an amnesiac in a, well, dark city.
It appears New Line Cinema forced the creator to add a voice-over right into the beginning of the movie.
I'd recommend watching the director's cut, as it doesn't start with a bunch of spoilers.

Couldn't sleep, watched Gemini.

I don't really know what to say.
I've watched most of Shinya Tsukamoto's movies, as well as some of his early shorts.
So, I know not all of his work is exactly the same. However, Gemini is from the stylistic turning point of his career. This is where he moved away from the stop-motion and industrial settings. And damn, did it pay off. It's thematically very much like most of his work. The cinematography is beautiful, the use of music (as well as the music itself) incredibly effective, and the story unfolds like a creepy, bittersweet fairytale.

I'm feeling all kinds of things right now.

'Dark City' is a phenomenal film which I've adored since it originally came out. I bought the Director's Cut a while ago but I never got around to watching it.

I actually saw it in it's theatrical release when it first came out. I also own what I'm pretty certain was just what I had seen in the movie theater on DVD.

Bullet Ballet.
Only four more Tsukamoto movies to go!

I found it extremely pleasant to my senses, though I can see why it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.
The rapid-fire war imagery alone might be off-putting to some.

Gangs, death wishes, industrial close-ups, and a man obsessed - all shot in delicious black and white.

John Dies at the End
it was funny, really funny that they recycled the suits from Galaxy Quest for the end scene.
