Why do a lot of men hate Twilight so passionately?

Jealous probably that the men get so much attention.

It's just a movie and a book, who cares. I dislike the books because they're slow moving and boring, I don't go onto bashing the characters.

So it doesn't portray vampires in the way you like. It's like me getting angry about a movie that doesn't portray unicorns the way I like, in other words, a waste of energy. They aren't real, does it really matter if someone twists the meaning of vampire so it appeals to 10 year old girls? It's a big money maker.

If you don't like it, don't watch it or talk about it. There are plenty of other normal vampire movies to watch.

Well the story isn't going to work if he screams and then dissolves into a pile of ash and flames is it?

No but still I mean the whole point of making a vampire movie is to follow the mythology of the vampire twilight though isnt that bad I just cant take it serious with out wanting to laugh

In this case, I think it's because they're insanely jealous of Robert Pattinson. (Of course, if you tell them as such, it just riles them up even more. :D )

I have no opinion of Twilight itself as I have neither read or seen it (yet-- my mum bought me a copy for Christmas one year and I do intend to read it at some point; oh hell it won't cost me anything but time!)

I do think it's kind of weird the hate that is going around for this -- being as I am a full advocate for personal taste and subscriber to the Don't LIke Don't Read philosophy. This is something that baffles me as well and honestly, I do think there is a degree of sexism involved in the outright hatred for literature aimed at teenage girls.

Newsfhash for you, those are, pretty much, of legal age.

What it means is that men drooling towards 17 year old girls, the problem being they are underage, and the gender being reversed, will put the word "pedophiles" in the open against these men, (probably by women, but by other men as well), that doesn't seem to happen with the older women doing this, if so, then I'd like to see it.

Newslfash for you, the Twilight stars are of legal age...which I said...20 posts back...

Evidently not, no? The whole "point" of most entertainment is to use different concepts as inspiration and create something new using your own take.

Did you just say that Twilight vampires should become part of vampire mythology, that definitely hits a weak spot. I am actually someone who refuses the thing about vampires being burned by the sunlight as it it was made put into by the movie Nosferatu.

I won't accept those fairies being added into vampire myth, in saying that, I am using the word with the more broad term of fairy myth.

Twilight still sucks the big fat one though, and hallelujah when it FINALLY comes to an end this year.

All that needs to be said about Twilight (If you haven't read this, it is quite funny!)

I liked the first movie when I had a girlfriend to watch it with. Something fun, innocent, and standalone.
But actually attempting to read any of it when I was shown the actual book? My God, it is so poorly written.
A lot of the descriptions for things are not only out of character for a teen, but you wouldn't hear them ever.

Then there's the clichés. And well, it's got a target audience which are younger girls that daydream about this sort of stuff and the writing is clearly tailored for them. It's not that all guys want to dislike it to prove a point, it is not marketed at them thus there is little appeal. Meyer knows their target audience and it isn't guys.

Last point I'd like to make, The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice do a better job at the romance side of things from my point of view and if it's a movie you are after try Bram Stoker's Dracula, or from the human perspective of it 30 Days of Night.

So contrary to some of the remarks made in this thread, it's not just the more piggish of the guys that dislike it; a lot of people that have read other books and seen other movies of the same style (men and women) view this as nothing more than 3rd rate material written by a hack, selling it to an audience that would not know any books before it therefore would have nothing to compare its quality against.

There's nothing wrong with liking Twilight. It does what it sets out to do, and if you like it fine. But do not be so quick to judge those that dislike it.

Simple really, it has basically bludgeoned the whole vampire mythology and has given the impression that these once evil, smelly, sinister and dark creatures are sparkly hair-care product obsessed prettyboys. And don't even get me started on Robert Pattinson sparkling in the sunlight, since when do vampires sparkle!?!?!

If i want real vampire movies, i will watch...

The Bela Lugosi Dracula
The Hammer Horror Dracula with Christopher Lee
Bram Stoker's Dracula with Gary Oldman as the Count
Interview with the Vampire
The Lost Boys
Blade
Blade 2
30 Days of Night
Daybreakers - The subsider vamps P*SSES all over Edward Cullen
Let Me In

Now you know why i hate Twilight.

Don't forget the Ginger Snaps series. Katherine Isabelle is HOT (and yes, I know she's a lesbian, but damn!)!
