I recommend THE PEANUT BUTTER SOLUTION.

It was creepy at first, but for some reason when the memory came to me, the moments (no spoilers intended) gave me, in my head, a wild endearment.

FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR

It was unbelievable to learn Pee-Wee was involved!

I remember seeing The Peanut Butter Solution, but only ever rented it so I saw it once and don't remember much about it. Flight of the Navigator however I loved and watched many many times.

I remember Flight of the Navigator! I probably saw that movie 2 dozen times as a kid. Remember when the ship said, "I do not leak. You leak." I thought that was the best joke I'd ever heard (after my mom explained it to me).

Not to brag, but I'm the king of obscure films.
Ok, here goes:

The Holy Mountain
El Topo
Interstellar 5555
Ghost World
Cannibal Holocaust (alright, I enjoy it for it's historical value)
Hush...Hush Sweet Charlotte

A specific type of movies indeed. From those I watched ghost world, and interstellar 5555. I have the holy mountain (and I think i have el topo), but was how to say scared away by the gore. Should I watch it anyway?)

Odly enough I watched far gorey flicks when i was young, but I think i got more sensitive after practicing meditation for such a long time .

Both ghost world and el topo/holy mountain were created by comic book artists. Did you read their comic books to?

I read the book "Tim" (by Colleen McCollugh, the lady who wrote "The Thorn Birds") when I was a kid and LOVED the book, its out of print now I think, I did't know they made a movie of it. Will have to look for it.
I don't know how "obscure" it is but I always LOVED "The Fisher King" and any documentary I can lay my hands on. (I'm so "geeky" I tivo PBS :D )

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet, but if not, I believe 'Escanaba in da Moonlight' is the funniest indie film I've ever seen.

Don't be scared of the gore in Holy Mountain/El Topo.
It's not bad at all, really.

That was a list of the films I saw last weekend really.
I forgot to mention a crapload of other films.
Alice, Sweet Alice was a great one.
Highly underrated.
My Mother's House is pretty cool.
Rocket Science didn't get much attention, but it's pretty great.
Those are another few off the top of my head.

Farenheit 451
My Life as a Dog - Not hollywood, Swedish

Hmm, I wonder if Farenheit 451 was ever marketed as "Celsius 233" :)

"The Plague Dogs" (based on the book by Richard Adams, and produced by the same people who brought Adams' "Watership Down" to life). Makes me cry everytime but I love it.

I like "the zoo gang". It's a teen movie made in the 80's. I don't remember the actors name, but it has the guy in it who was also in "zoobilee zoo".

OH! Also "Testament". Came out in the 80's, stars Jane Alexander. It's about life after the bombs go off. You never see the bombs. They never say who started it. The film is simply about this little town that's slowly dying. There are no graphic deaths: Instead as each member of the main character's family dies we see a clip of an old home movie. The film itself from the mother's perspective (dad was at work when the bombs fell; obviously he never returns) and there are some absolutely gut-wrenching scenes, all played out very quietly. It tears me apart and I bawl like a baby, but somehow I feel better after watching it. Very cathartic somehow.

"Freaked" is one of my favorites. Completely sick and twisted, but funny as all get out.
