Want this before I start engaging in discussion.

Also, I could understand Bane from the first time I watched the trailer. "When Gotham is in ashes, you have my permission to die." A bit muffled, but I understood it. Awesome trailer. Can't wait for the movie.

It's not "when Gotham is in ashes". It's "when Gotham is .... ashes". It's a pause, you!

For me the problem with TDK is the over the top dialogue. I can't understand anyone taking some of the speeches seriously. It has been a long time since I saw it but basically, whenever Batman or any other character is called upon to explain the morality of a situation it comes off as quite a bit pretentious. One thing that stood out was this BS from that old, boring police guy that never does anything useful.

James Gordon Jr.: Why's he running, Dad?
Lt. James Gordon: Because we have to chase him.
James Gordon Jr.: He didn't do anything wrong.
Lt. James Gordon: Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight.

He's a silent guardian! A watchful protector! He's a Dark Knight... Lol what a gay ending.

Not to get off subject, but shouldn't that have been his daughter Barbara? They seem to have totally forgotten about her existence.

@ The_Perfect_Storm: How do you know it was a pause? And I felt the dialogue appropriate, given Gotham is descending into madness and such. And by the way, in a general critique of slang, I'm really sick of the usage of the word "gay" to suggest disdain for something, for one because it's gone through so many meanings, and two it suggests being disgusted without a clear reason why. Plus it doesn't sound meaningful, "That is so gay", if it's not happy or regarding sexuality, what does it mean?
@ Kraichgauer: No, at the end Two-Face kidnapped Gordon's son and held him hostage, the daughter Barbara was unharmed and not involved in that scene.

Actually, according to the Batman Wiki, the daughter is unnamed, but his wife is named Barbara. And any more quoting within quotes could tear a hole in the fabric of spacetime(lousy joke mode).(Also, to anyone who has posted against the films, I'm not trying to disprove anyone's opinions on the films, I'm just trying to keep things level so it doesn't become a one-sided hate-fest like I've seen on so, so many internet comment boards.)

Well, in that case, I much would have preferred the child who Two Face had threatened to kill to have been the daughter Barbara. It would have made much more sense in the Batman mythology. She could have remembered Batman fleeing from the police even though he was innocent, and what her father had said, which could have been impetus for her to eventually become Batgirl.

And God, I hated how the Clooney movie had made her Alfred's niece.

Yeah, that would've worked. But hey, maybe Gordon's son will become Robin in several years. But in the end, all I can say is that Chris Nolan has the movie, and he can make it however he wants. And maybe it's best to watch the movies as an edited long movie, like they did with the Godfather trilogy, cut up and add scenes, that stuff. And if you're interested in batman, I recommend the trade paperback Batman in the Seventies.

Fine with me, you can sit and demand that Warner Bros. bring back Tim Burton and put atmosphere over a cohesive storyline all you like, it still won't happen. Besides, the Burton films focused more on the villains rather than Batman himself.....

Good. Batman's a boring character. The villians bring the show to life. But what's all this stuff about Tim Burton? Who cares who makes it.

There's no 'in' sound?

I didn't like the dialogue because it couldn't be taken seriously. No one talks like that, it's unnecessarily dramatic and it didn't really make sense. The character was just talking out of his ass. Was a bit pretentious.

What do I mean by gay? I don't really know how to explain it in my own words. Generally I guess I would go with this description from urbandictionary "lame, not worthy of attention, waste of time, stupid or idiotic".

*yawn* Then why don't you go and watch something else, Spiderman, for example?

You know what they say - - a story is only as good as it's bad guy. Which is why the original Star Wars trilogy is so memorable - why the prequels were not.

Meh. I liked Batman Begins, but The Dark Knight left a bad taste in my mouth for Christopher Nolan, and I don't see anything remarkable in this new Rises trailer that makes me think it'll redeem him.

*yawn* because I never said the movies were bad. I don't like Batman. I f*****g love the villains.
