Paradise Hills

Good twists, good costuming and beautiful sets.

For me, the two most obscure ones that I've seen recently are Century (from 1993) and Pete Smalls is Dead.

Down in the Valley with Edward Norton and Evan Rachel Wood. Absolutely amazing movie, everyone should watch it. It broke my heart so deeply that I ended up curled in a ball on the floor, crying my eyes out.

Just saw The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, the 2006 animated film (there are a couple of other things with the same name). Sort of a standard mix of themes but done exceptionally well, I actually started to cry at the end. It's my impression that all East Asian romance fiction is based on the concept of unrequited love, but this one does the theme very well. There were also scenes of a kid being bullied in high school. Although bullying is a huge real-world problem in Japanese schools, it surprises me to see it portrayed in what I would assume was a popular film in Japan.
