The character's name is Piter De Vries. (Did I spell it right?)

There's the main character in "Napolean Dynamite". Watching that movie, I was struck by just how Aspie-ish he acted. Almost creepy.

*shudder*

You have no idea how much I hate that movie...He did not have Asperger's, he was just...*shudder*

I recently watched The Aviator. I already knew that Howard Hughes is thought to have had AS, and I thought that movie showed it really well.

OH OH OH OH OH OH OH

You know that part when he's talking to Kate and he says "Sometimes I get these feelings. I get these crazy feelings that nothing really exists" or something like that?

He has what I have, Depersonalization Disorder. Aspies tend to get it a lot easier than NTs, too.

I was reading in the general forum, but someone brought up Digit, from Star Trek.

 Sorry. I guess I wasn't paying attention and I don't know why I wrote "Digit". I meant "Data". *blushes*

On an interview (NPR, Fresh Air show) Dan Ackroyd said he had Asperger's and Tourette's, that it was worse when he was a kid but not an issue for him now. Did say he was & is obsessed w/crime stuff, that he carries some sort of badge w/him at all times, makes him feel better. Surprised & disappointed how little about AS was said, just suddenly came up in questioning at end of (last couple minutes) interview.
News to me, this was a year ago or more-never heard any more about it. Saw mention here of two of his film characters, Elwood Blues & Sgt. Friday, as possible AS dx.
Puzzling evidence...

I hate to be the voice of dissent, but I really don't care for all this speculation about which movie characters might be Aspies. IMHO, if a character wasn't written to have AS, then they don't have AS.

EDIT: Please note that I don't mean this as a knock at you guys, and feel free to continue speculating. I'm just expressing my $.02 on the matter.

Here's a surprising one:

Garth from "Wayne's World." He's geek and very awkward.

Admittedly I haven't read ALL of the posts in this thread, so apologies abound if I'm repeating others.

A casual discovery while watching The Saint, I realised Elisabeth Shue's Emma Russell character was very aspie-like. She seemed physically awkward, labelled as eccentric, admits she has problems with people (Tretiak mistook it for being cagey, another common thing with aspies). When she and Simon have shared a few wines, one thing which she seems to be bursting to say (to a stranger with no apparent knowledge of physics) that her research is finished, and that she needs to finish some sequencing to make it work. Physics is her obsession. Her dress sense is also quite unusual.

I doubt she was intended to be an aspie, but she shares many traits.

I think that in the movie Phenomenon the charcter George Malley (John Travolta) shows AS trates the way he starts talking about things he is thinking about and other people are completely lost as to what he is talking about. The way hes always reading and trying learn more. The way he gets annoyed when no one else is listening to him and he smashes a mirror at a bar.

This charcters cause for this sort of thing is surpost to be a brain tumor and not AS but I still think the charcter has alot of things that I have AS can relate to.

I agree with the part about Marcus, even if I am still a bit skeptical.

Honestly I always wondered why I was so easily able to relate to his character. With his outburst in the bar (breaking the mirror), his irritation with the soil (using his hands to toss it up) as well as his general ability to absorb new information...
