Recently I've been watching a bit of Macross Frontier, and now I cant get this chick out of my mind:
Her name is Sheryl Nome, and in the anime she's a celebrity superstar from the colony ship Macross Galaxy. When she comes to the Macross Frontier for a series of concerts, she develops a crush on Alto Saotome(the main character), a cadet at the pilot academy who was leading a formation flying show at the concert in a wing-suit. Like most celebrities, she tends to get in a lot of trouble, especially by wandering off on her own.
There's this funny scene in episode 5 that I keep watching [mild mature content advisory] where she suprises Alto by sneaking in the locker room window at the academy while he's there. Just as they start arguing about her trespass, Alto hears footsteps from outside and quickly hides himself and Sheryl in a locker as two other cadets come in. Sheryl is pressed up against Alto in a very compromising position within the locker, and just when things cant seem to get any more awkward, Alto's cellphone goes off and vibrates in his pocket between Sheryl's legs. She starts squirming and breathing heavy, and inadvertently bangs into the locker door; but before the cadets can come to investigate, they are called out of the room by one of the senior officers. After they leave, Alto and Sheryl bust out of the locker, and Sheryl scolds Alto for being a pervert, even though it really wasn't his fault.[/mca_end]
Sheryl is one of two lead female characters in the anime that are after Alto, the other being a young unassuming girl named Ranka Lee, who is the younger sister of Alto's commanding officer:
While Ranka does have general kawaii-ness going for her, she doesnt quite match Sheryl's appeal. I'm still halfway through the series, but from what I've seen so far, Alto is most likely going to go for Ranka. Well, I guess I'd be happy about that if I were a character, seeing as that frees up Sheryl.
Here is the episode I was talking about.
