Finished the last six episodes of The Ghost Detective on KOCOWA.
I enjoyed the series very much. Each episode was about 30 minutes so they went by quick.
Lee Ji-ah plays the evil spirit. She has lovely face and the series makes good use of it because she also has a very seductive smile when she it being evil. When she possesses other people, they also take on this smile, but it is perfect on her. Here is a tiny spoiler. She is an evil angry spirit that exists out of her comatose physical body. Her physical body is at one point killed in an attempt to get rid of the spirit, but the spirit takes over the body and she become a evil dead physical being, still capable of controlling other people. However, like in other shows about living dead beings, when her body takes on damage, it doesn't appear to heal. Also, her skin begins to get slightly decomposed. They use this in a very understated way. Her face also begins to show a slight aging and decomposition. Again, it is very understated, but effective. I've seen her is two dramas so far. I was not looking for them. She happened to be in both. In the other drama, My Mister, she plays and adulterous wife. She is very good at emoting a cold indifferent individual. Perfect for a serial killer. I should find something where she has more range. Otherwise, in my mind she will always be linked to emotionally cold individuals.
Park Eun-bin is such a good actor. She seems genuine in the roles she plays. At one point she becomes possessed, and she takes on all the mannerisms of Lee Ji-ah. Her emulation is perfect. She never quite does the smile though. In fact sometimes when you expect her to smile, the editing is such that Lee Ji-ah appears in her red dress.
I think I'll watch Do You Like Brahms? next in my Park Eun-bin line up.
