I went to see Tomorrowland yesterday, for my birthday. It's a good movie. It's a shame it goes over most people's heads. They need faster reflexes.

I saw Pitch Perfect yesterday. A co-worker lent it to me so I would be prepared for Pitch Perfect 2 this weekend.

Just watched The Voices. It is a funny, strange, dark, and sad movie about a man whose dog and cat talk to him, and his home and the world are clean, shiny, and wonderful when he is off his meds. Then he accidentally kills someone, and things start to spiral. The cat and dog remind me of Satchel and Bucky from the comic strip Get Fuzzy, though the cat is a yellow tabby, not Siamese, and has a Scottish accent.

Life Is Sweet

A 1990 film by Mike Leigh. I've been interested in his films lately because they largely improvised, and so far I've liked them. So far I've I've seen Another Year, and Mr. Turner, which at the time I did not realize was a Mike Leigh film. He uses nice array of excellent character actors. Harry Potter fans and Dr. Who fans might recognize several.

Damsels in Distress

I really like this movie. It's offbeat, upbeat, funny, and I admire how articulate the script is. I've like all of Whit Stillman's films. I think I have all of them except Barcelona.

The Men Who Stare at Goats

A reporter in Iraq might just have the story of a lifetime when he meets a guy who claims to be a former member of an U.S. Army unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions.

This was confusing.

"Hair" - OMG, I could only suffer-through an hour of it!

"Down and Out in Beverly Hills" - Not as funny as I remember----the funniest bit, was Bette Midler's walk.

Ran - Trying to catch up with classic movies, was good and a lot of tense action without the need for CGI.

Spring - I really liked this. A different horror movie, with the monster as the heroine. Slightly different, nice balance of horror, drama and romance with a bit of comedy sprinkled through. Underneath just a story about two people trying to connect done very well. On that side it reminded me of another good film The Station Agent, which is more about the friendship forming between the characters then about the story.
