I just started series 2 of Showtrial on BBC iPlayer

Promising start

I never liked this episode when I was a kid and good God, it's worse than I remember.

Re Astrid... I believe I learned somewhere along the way that all of the Autistic characters in the Autism support group are played by Autistic actors...except Astrid.

I could not find confirmation of this, however.

Research time. Although if you could not find any confirmation, I probably won't be able to either.

I think I might have gotten my hint the easy way...when I watch it it is a PBS broadcast and they may have dropped in some trivia before or after the show. So I can remember the trivia but cannot see it again.

I would very, very much like to get Astrid et Raphaëlle on disk, in French with English subtitles...the way it is broadcast by PBS. I think it is a wonderful show. (Yes, I'm old and like outdated technology; I'm not interested in streaming.)

I understand the show is being rebooted by a UK broadcaster. It is expected to be called Patience. It is too soon to know whether the English reboot will be better or worse than the French original. I can't predict it. For instance, I don't find the English reboot Professor T as captivating as the original Belgian Professor T. but I think the American reboot The Bridge is captivating (thanks, Alex!).

I am considering getting it on DVD as well if I can find them for the North American Region. Someday, maybe I'll get a region free player. I have one computer where the DVD player is set to Region 2.
I believe you are three years older than me, so I'm surprised you did not say VHS.

I saw that Patience was being produced in Britain. I also read that PBS is backing it, or at least assisting. I think that means funds. But Britain generally make good shows. It will have a different feel to it, just like the Korean Good Doctor and American Good Doctor, or the British IT Crowd and the American IT Crowd.

I enjoyed The Bridge as well. I know it was a Belgian program before hand, and I cannot remember if I've seen it or not.

Professor T. looks interesting. Ben Miller is in it, and I enjoyed him in Death in Paradise.

Season 2, episodes 4 through 6.
Episode 4 - Fermata - group leader William gives Astrid ten beans and rules for removing 1 to 2 beans and recovering beans. It is to help her gauge when she needs to recharge, avoiding a meltdown. William is a very likable character. The episode involves murder by music.
Episode 5 - Circe - a body is found in a clearing, inside a circle, the body burnt except for the head. The fire was not the cause of death. One word. Witches!
Episode 6 - Golem - A Jewish man is found dead in his apartment with bits of clay about the face. Also two Hebrew words are found at the scene. It points to a Golem, but they find something just as artificial and modern.
I'm fascinated by the initial topics of the episodes. One suggested a UFO abduction, another magic, and then there are the witches and the Golem. I'm certain France does not have Halloween every week.

Also, Astrid and Raphaëlle get into a minor disagreement when Astrid mentions out how much cursing Raphaëlle does. Raphaëlle denies it. I believe Raphaëlle's son was present. That could be why she denied it, although I recall him not believing it.

Side note: Why don't I refer to the show as Astrid et Raphaëlle as IMDB does. PBS refers to it as Astrid. Articles I read refer to it as Astrid, although, I'm having self doubts about it being all or some articles. But perhaps it is because I'm just lazy. The DVDs I've seen refer to it as Astrid et Raphaëlle. I have to give this some thought. Okay, technically the DVD titles are Astrid & Raphaëlle.

You mentioned The Bridge, originally The Bridge a Danish/Swedish collaboration about a murder on the border between those two countries. But, apparently it was a good idea and there have been numerous remakes. That I can piece together:

□ I Gefyra [2022] ...on the Greece/Turkey border

I've only seen The Bridge [2013–2014] set on the Mexican/U.S. border. I like it even though police procedural shows are more my bride's interest. The show was noteworthy for at least two reasons:

1. A lead character was a high-functioning Autistic. Done very nicely, by the way. They never even say she is on the Autism Spectrum. She is Autistic, designed to be Autistic, but that is just an unspoken characteristic.

2. And the character was so wonderfully crafted with the assistance of Alex Plank, creator and owner of Wrong Planet!

I also found the early version of Professor T on PBS.

I think I found the Danish version of The Bridge when U.S. version was playing. I had no idea there were so many version. It was a while ago, and I don't remember much about it. I checked and IMDB has several streaming sites listed. I cannot say with 100% certainty that they are accurate though. I've seen a few sites listed for titles and found the site had different version with the same title. Not often.

I believe Alex was an advisor for Atypical as well. Maybe not the last season (???).

(Now it is time to read a chapter in a book.)

High Potential on Hulu

Season 1, episode 3 - Dirty rotten Scoundrel

Lovely Canadian character actor Audrey Wasileski was in this episode as a mom with early dementia who is swindled out of $200,000 to $300,000. A couple numbers were tossed around for victims. I don't remember which number belonged to who. This actress has been in 261 titles since 1987. If you have seen the movie RED with Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, and John Malkovich, Audrey is the actor that tries to kill them with a rocket launcher. It was quite funny. For me, I first noticed her in Wonderfall, season 1, episode 5 - Crime Dog. Since then anytime she shows up in a movie/television show, I immediately recognize her. NOTE: I still had to look up her name, again. How fair is that in life? Actors should be known and remembered like famous scientists and bus drivers.

Side note: High Potential is a decent show, but Wonderfalls will hopefully always stay in my memory. That and Dead Like Me.

Finished season 2

Episode 7 - Le livre
A man at an auction bursts into flames in from of everyone and dies. He is the only one that can see the flames.
Episode 8 - En garde à vue
While attempting to prove a woman's innocence of murder, Astrid and Raphëlle are taken hostage, and then charged with assisting the woman. Big season finale.

Matters of note:
William Thomas, mentioned previously, meets Tetsuo Tanaka. they learn they both play an important part in Astrid's life.
Raphëlle begins to see Mathias Forest (prosecutor) for the schmuck he is.
Raphëlle begins to see Nicolas Perran in a way that reflects how he views her.
The autism group unite, with William and Tetsuo, to help Astrid. She is well liked.

Side note:
I have not mentioned Tetsuo Tanaka. He is the son of Apu Tanaka, the owner of a store Astrid visits every Monday morning to buy her groceries. Apu has much respect for Astrid because she has been eager to understand his customs and learned some Japanese. She has bought groceries only from this store since she was a child. Tetsuo, who has a keen interest in numbers, is drawn to Astrid.

Last night we finished watching our way through:

Darker than Kolchak: The Night Stalker [1974–1975] and lacks its quirky charm.

It was OK.

Not the best thing to watch before going to bed, but I could not find a movie that was creepy, mysterious, and spooky.

It's late, 00:35 (12:35 AM), but I'm going to watch episode 8 - The Ghost Hasn't Left the Building - the auditorium where Elvis played his first concert. "Spirits include a woman in white who Tango and Steve spot in the auditorium. Also a male voice coming from the balcony area." The description says Amy Bruni returns from maternity leave. I listen to her podcast, Haunted Road, when they come out.

I'll have not problem getting to sleep...

... one more thing. There always seem to be a woman in white and we never see them, except in poorly made YouTube videos.
