Nightcrawler and Edge of tomorrow, both awesome; and Constantine, which was pants!

I guess it's sort of like Blade Runner. That movie wasn't a hit when it came out, but other filmmakers started ripping it off pretty much instantly, and a decade later it started to get re-evaluated and seen as the masterpiece that it is. It seems to be taking longer with Jacob's Ladder, which came out 25 years ago; but just like with Blade Runner, its influence is all over the place, both in movies and video games. (The Silent Hill video game series owes its entire existence to Jacob's Ladder.) Most people seem to like it these days, but the reviews I read are still only mildly positive. Maybe we'll have to wait another 25 years for it to get the respect it really deserves. But then I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, eh?

Two documentaries, both about Brian Wilson

Brian Wilson: Songwriter 1962-1969
Brian Wilson: Songwriter 1969-1982

The first is like three hours long. The second is just over two hours. I enjoyed these, especially the first, partially because they were not just the same "Brian Wilson is a genius" but discussed what was unique about the construction of some of his music. When it comes to the period where he worked on Smile, it seems everyone has their own version of why he did not complete it back then.

I enjoyed the second one as well. It was nice to get a picture of what was going on in the '70s. Before I had a very sketchy idea about that period in is life, and no clue about what happened when. I did not feel the second documentary was as good as the first. The first seemed more thorough and thought out.

If you are looking for interviews with Brian, you won't find them here, but David Lee Marks and Bruce Johnston appear in the first. I personally found David Marks especially interesting, but there were a lot of interesting things people had to say.

Re-watched these two with the Blu-ray audio commentaries. The first with Kevin Costner and director Kevin Reynolds; the second with co-writer and director Mel Brooks.

American Psycho, for at least the third time.

The Patrick Bateman character reminds me of someone I used to play golf with about 20 years ago, in both his appearance and his attitude.

"You've Got Mail". I got it mixed-up with "Sleepless in Seattle", and thought that's what I was gonna see----and, SiS was MUCH better; YGM, not-so-much.

I'm halfway through Amelia, with Hilary Swank and Richard Gere. Amelia Earhart biopic.

It's just about watchable, so I'll tackle the second half in a day or two.
