^I agree, and that's one of the many reasons why I read Clamp.

It would be nice if there were more anime actually featuring bi or gay characters(male). Though in Kiniro or Non Non you don't know if any of the characters are queer.

bi or gay female characters are more common. Recent anime has included shows like Yuru Yuri, Yurikuma Arashi, Cross Ange, Season 3 of Sailor Moon Crystal has been making an impression, and probably Mikagure School Suite.

There was the recent Haruchika which has a gay guy, and never really plays it up that much which is good, and there was Love Stage.

I love Anime. I've watched plenty though my life. All time favorites are Vampire Hunter D, Hidamari Sketch (Used to have my tumblr screename based of that show) ,Mermaid's Scar (very underrated movie), AzuManga Daioh, Lupin III, Excel Saga and more X. Started at the age of 6 when I had ZERO business watching something so mature as Vampire Hunter D.

I so want to ask this about anime: Does anyone watch or know a anime that you believe that sounds found funnier and better in a English dub then the Japanese sub?

I've always think AzuManga Daioh in my opinion the dub is funnier than the sub. I'm curious to see what answers I get to see post wise.

Well the job of a good dub should be to transfer the show over to jokes being more fitting the language they have been put into rather translate a joke. Although honestly I have not thought to much on this actual topic.

Well, I can say the comedy anime I have really only watched in English as Lucky Star and Space Dandy. Lucky Star is a very Japanese culture series, where many of the jokes probably require some knowledge about the culture, but I think that the dub does a good job at not making it feel to foreign, and keeps jokes like the heroine, Konata, being voiced by the voice actress who did Haruhi Suzumiya. Space Dandy received a dub pretty much at the same time as the Japanese track and feels like considerable work was done for it to be the right track to listen to for the English audience, with pretty much all of the jokes making sense with the language.

In my opinion though, the dub vs sub thing really is not such a big deal.

Another anime that I think might be a bit interesting on this topic is Ika Musume (Squid Girl), where the Japanese track largely has the titular character have a vocal tic to do with a squid (de geso), while the English one instead makes her say a lot of squid puns. An interesting part of it, at least when I was watching it, was that official subtitles actually put in the squid puns, while the fansubs went for a more direct translation with the verbal tic added.

Well, I've been watching Clannad. I like it a lot. The Dango song keeps getting stuck in my head, but that's okay. :)

I liked the Trigun dub more; mostly because I couldn't stand Vash's Japanese voice. Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist are just as good dubbed. Same with FLCL. I've read a lot that Steins;Gate has an excellent dub, but I've only watched the sub.

What was I thinking?! It seems like Clannad is the saddest anime ever! Gah! Clannad is the only anime wherein starfish, teddy bears, snow, and RICE DUMPLINGS can make me cry! 8O Yet in Clamp manga, even something as common as feathers can make me cry... :| Oh well. I've started on this journey up the hill, so I might as well keep going. :)

I warned you that it is sad and it would be best going in somewhat prepared. It is funny too, but that can be so it builds you up before it tears you down, but sometimes those times up can be worth feeling sad. I don't know at what part you up to for the level of sadness, because it gets pretty rough partway into After Story before having one of the sweetest stories.

^Yes, you did warn me, but shame on me for thinking that I could handle it. I'm only on episode 10 of season 1 if you're wondering. I think I'll just go from episode 15 of After Story to the final episode.
What I don't get is the people who think that Tomoya shouldn't have done all of the alternate universe/timeline stuff and just moved on with his life after he lost the two people he loves more than anything. Those people have obviously never suffered in that way before.

You just got through the Fuko arc and starting the Kotomi arc. Well, you seem to have an idea of what is ahead, since you know about episode 15 (or 16), but those episodes are worth watching.

I've really enjoyed Gate. The politics make sense, so it works for me as both fantasy and speculative fiction. And Kuribayashi

I really enjoyed his Japanese voice a lot more than his american voice. Also with the dub they add such weird dialogue.

Weird. On my last post, everything I wrote disappeared.

I said, I'm happy to encounter someone else who likes Hidamari Sketch.

Also, that I remember the Excel Saga sub as being pretty funny, but I'd have to watch it again in order to decide which was funnier.
