I saw Inside Out for the third time with my mom, stepdad and sisters a couple weeks ago, and we watched Harry Potter 1 and 2 a week ago.

Mr. Holmes

What struck me about the movie was Ian McKellen's performance as a 60-something year Sherlock, when he still has his health and memory and the 93 year old Sherlock who is frail, and going senile, while retaining his famous power of observation and deduction. He is excellent.

Laura Linney plays his housekeeper. The tension is evident between the two, and reminds one that people skills has not always been Sherlock's strong point. He is not an easy man to like.

There is more than one riddle woven through this story.

The Wrecking Crew

A documentary about the musicians that played the music for so much of the music I heard growing up. I knew about this group of studio musicians from my reading about Phil Spector and Brian Wilson, but they played the music on so many songs that I had no idea about. I knew they played on lots of other songs, but I never had specific examples. If you loved the music from the '60s, this is a great documentary.

During the closing credits, they play snippets of some of the music they played, and then they showed picture of Richard Harris and the song was MacArthur Park, song I've always loved, and what happens? My brain flashes Dave Thomas doing Richard Harris on Mel's Rockpile from SCTV. ha. I love that bit.
