The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920). I usually don't like silent movies unless they are slap stick comedies, but I'm a big Conrad Veidt fan ( he played a great Nazi, especially in "Casablanca"). The plot twist at the end of the movie is fantastic!

As a side note, Conrad Veidt was personally very Anti-Nazi, and had to flee Germany for his life. Ironically, as a German during the war years, the only acting roles he could get were playing Nazis.

What I liked about his acting in these roles was that he played them so well. Unlike so many actors, he didn't play a stereotype, he always kept it real. And he was SO evil. Also, he donated a lot of his acting fees to the British war effort. Ironically, the poor guy died just before the war ended. :(

Re-watched with Blu-ray audio commentary by director John Hyams and actor Dolph Lundgren.

I understand Veidt was also pro-gay rights at a time when that political stance was almost unheard of.

That I didn't know, although it doesn't surprise me. A great actor and quite a man.
