Mistress America

Ever since I watched Damsels in Destress, I have become Greta Gerwig aware. That's why I went to see this. I enjoyed it very much. I found the movie humorous and while watching I found it humorous when I realized I'd seen the trailer for it at some time in the past and made a mental note "Oh, I want to see this movie, and Greta Gerwig is in it." But I'd completely forgotten about the trailer by the time I decided to go see it. I need to start carrying a notepad for noting movies I want to see based on the trailer, because I always forget their titles.

The movie is about an 18 year old college freshman who looks up her 30 something soon to be step sister (Greta Gerwig), and gets caught up in her older sister's life and dreams. The two women find they compliment each other quite nicely, becoming great friends until... I think Greta's character is a bit self-involved, but I'm honestly not certain.

The movie was written by Greta Gerwig and her partner Noah Baumbach. The film was directed by Noah Baumbach.

Mr. Holmes

Excellent movie, although a shame this movie didn't get more attention. Sir Ian McKellen delivers a knockout performance as an elderly Sherlock Holmes who reflects on his life as he tends to his bees.

Mad Max: Fury Road.

Tom Hardy takes over the role of Mad Max in this excellent sequel. Finding himself captured by more lunatics in the Australian wasteland, Max is used as a human shield as said army of lunatics, led by king loony Joe Imortalius, pursues concubines fleeing from sexual servitude, led by Charlize Theron minus an arm and hair. Max ends up on the side of the runaway women, and one of Joe's discarded soldiers. Almost all the movie is one intense chase scene with lunatics using insane weapons, riding in flying deathtraps.
