How do we all rate Matt Smith thus far?

Personally I've gotten to the point where I'm not worrying about David Tennant any more. I think the Angels 2 parter has sealed it. I particularly love his vagueness, something which I think Tennant had but Smith is looking to push further.

Whereas previous doctors acted clueless as a cunning ruse, I get the feeling Smith is moreso hoping his genius will get him out of the jam later on. I quite like that.

I rate him highly, I think he's great!

Although, watching last week's Confidential brought twinges of sadness upon seeing Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant again, I miss both of them. I'll have to wait until the end of this series at least before I decide where to rank Matt Smith among all the Doctors I've seen.

Indeed. I remember "it's a thing in progress. Respect the thing!" as a good example, but a better one is from The Beast Below - he places a glass of water on the floor. Amy asks him why, and he doesn't know. There's so much going on in his head that he can't remember. I've done stuff automatically myself a fair few times so I understood this completely!

Yes both of those things were awesome! I loved it! :D

I loved the joke about the torches in that episode (Vampires in Venice). It was hilarious! There's something rather fishy about Rory... fish pun intended... Has anyone else noticed that there are a lot of fish being mentioned in this series? Strange!

Ep 1: Fish custard
Ep 2: 'There's a fish on the loose' and the star whale
Ep 5: well it's about a load of alien fish...

I think it is just a funny coincidence though, not a link to anything!

This episode was filled with some great laughs, definitely brought my spirit up. The torches things was funny, but I especially liked the line "fish from space have never been so... buxom." There were lots of times I laughed this episode, which was good because I didn't think anything would cheer me up today.

I'm glad that Rory's sticking around for a while. And the trailer for next week looks so great! I say that every week, but it's because they always look so exciting, and they usually are. Loving this series! Definitely the highlight of my week. :D

Well.. This is kind continuing something that was brought up a while ago and there's got to be some kind of pattern.. Especially when you add the duck POND, Amy POND, RIVER Song.. This seems to be adding up to a very watery series.

Also.. Next weeks looks cooool! Tardis on ice.

(Btw the torch joke seems to quite apt as the Tenth Doctor got nicknamed David Ten-inch) Hehe

Yes, I had noticed the Pond, River thing... Ice in the Tardis... ice is frozen water!! !

Yeah, my friend was watching with me and she said it's a good thing that David Ten-inch didn't pull that out! I think it was her who told me about it! Doctor who magazine asks Karen Gilliam:

Billie Piper nicknamed DT "David Ten-inch". Karen do you have a similar nickname for Matt?

KG: "Oh God! Um - "
SM: "I would tread carefully here"
KG: "I don't know! Although Matt did run around set in his pants the other day."
MS: "Yes. Yes. Yes, I did."
SM: "For a scripted reason! [To Matt:] Just go with my explanation."

Made me laugh really loud reading this (for our American friends, UNDER pants!).

This weeks episode was entertaining. :D It definitely kept my interest especially since I'm curious about the cracks in space...
I'm not a big fan of the new character Rory in this series. He seems to be a bit boring in comparison to the others.
I think next week's episode looks like it's going to be a good one and I can't wait to see it.

I like the interplay between the Doctor and his companions in this series. Remember when Rose used to get jealous and clingy, if the Doctor even spoke to another person? I hated that! And the way she treated Micky made me seethe. Amy is a much nicer character, playful and funny... and even though she kissed the Doctor I can forgive her, because she does seem to love Rory.

Anyone else like the continuity thing, where the Doctor pulled out his library card instead of the psychic paper, and we see the first Doctor on it?

Oh, also, that may have been the single funniest introduction to an episode ever. "Oh, that reminds me, there's a girl in a bikini waiting outside..." and "Do you ever say something in your head, and it sounds alright then..."

Hilarious.

Oh, and his reaction to the Vampires. "You're like Houdini" Only Houdini is shorter. Will be shorter... and you're five slightly scary girls."

I like watching him, although it's mainly because the actor is the son of my old drama teacher, and used to go to my drama group. I feel I should support him for his mum's sake!

Well, I like Rory. It's a return to form, the Doctor having a male companion as well as a female one. The old Doctor's often had a male companion, and it makes the series more fun for a young boy to watch. My son loves Jamie (the second Doctor's Scottish companion) and I really do think it's about time we had more blokes. It gives more balance to things, I think.

I like Rory. He's a figure of sanity!
I think the Doctor is wrong about him in one sense, though - between him and Jeff, I'd always pick Rory as the better looker.

I like Jeff better... >.>
I was quite hoping the Doctor was going to hug or kiss Jeff in the first episode.

But that's probably just me..

I'm just glad the Doctor has stopped hugging and kissing quite so much. David Tennant must have been the most snogged bloke in history. I didn't mind him kissing Micky though... yet that scene never shows up anywhere. They're running down a corridor, and the Doctor goes, "Micky!" seeing him for the first time in yonks, and kisses him quickly on the forehead. I thought, awh, that's so sweet!

Mind you, I always thought Micky deserved more affection than Rose ever gave him.

He was happy in the Parallel universe though. There was a deleted scene which you can probably find on Youtube where Mickey finds out Ricky and Jake were boyfriends.
