Couple documentaries:
King Corn
Almost Home
Sicko (although it's pretty well-known, I think)
Tarnation
Born Into Brothels

A couple of these are very funny, a couple are alternately touching, painful, and hopeful.

Anyone seen "Running Scared"? It's not totally obscure but it kind of fell through the cracks for most people. It's a really well done action thriller if you can stand the frenetic, psychotic approach to it all. And yeah, that includes the storytelling...anyone expecting it to all be particularly logical or for every subplot to have a purpose are missing the point. The point is to be the this crazy creepy roller coaster of violence and insanity, a mishmash of fairy tale archtypes turned into urban characters. I think that at what it's doing it works very well--it's just that a lot of people won't be able to get behind what it's doing. Also, it is definitely Paul Walker's best performance by far--in other movies he's HORRIBLE, but in this he's really good.

You can watch the first five minutes HERE--but a warning, it's VERY violent. And it gets more messed up after that scene is over.

I especially recommend it to fans of "Max Payne"--this movie is probably closer to the spirit of the games than the actual "Max Payne" film will (presumably) be.

Where The Day Takes You(1992)
I found this movie randomly on Netflix about 2 years ago. I was amazed at how much i liked this movie and ended up watching it about 3 times. It is now one of my favorite movies. The movie is about a group of teenage runaways trying to survive on the streets of Los Angeles. Dermot Mulroney, Lara Flynn Boyle, Balthazar Getty, and Sean Astin star in the movie. Will Smith and Ricki Lake have small roles.

S.F.W.(1995)
Another movie i found on Netflix that i ended up liking alot. Stephen Dorff stars as Cliff Spabb, a slacker who after being held hostage by terrorists in a convenience store for 36 days while the whole thing was broadcasted on live national television becomes an instant celebrity. The movie also stars Reese Witherspoon as Wendy who was a hostage as well and the two ended up falling in love and being the only survivors from the convenience store. Instead of embracing his instant celebrity Cliff tries to avoid the media entirely and find Wendy.

I have a couple more movies in mind but i'm tired and i will write more tomorrow!! !! !! !!
