"Red Dragon". I was looking forward to Will Graham shooting the heck out of Francis Dolarhyde, but it ends up being Graham's wife who does it. Total anticlimax for me. :?

In the end, the Sean Connery character breaks the Tabernacle that is giving the Immortals everlasting life, giving them the gift of death, and they all gleefully commit suicide in various ways.

After seeing -Seconds- I was ripping angry. Any organization that would do such things should be rooted out and obliterated on general moral principles.

My wife had been having a rough day so she picked out this movie thinking it would be about 2 boys who overcame Nazi Germany to become friends. It did not end on a positive note.

I read the thread to see if anyone mentioned that one. I was going to.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
What was the purpose of killing off Li Mu Bai? Why did Jiao Long jump? Nearly all the main characters had unnecessary miserable endings.

Miracle Mile.
Massive, radioactive letdown at the end.

The Mist

SPOILER

At the ending, a guy kills the three people who are in the car with him (including his son) so they won't get killed by the aliens/monsters, but doesn't have a bullet left for himself. He stumbles out of the car, only to find out that the army has cleared the situation and they all would have survived if they had waited just a minute longer.

That really hit me hard.

I had forgotten that movie. The short story ended very differently. In the story the group had driven until nightfall and went into a deserted hotel to stay. The dad was playing with the radio while everyone else was asleep and he thought he briefly heard the word "Hartford" as he was tuning and looking for a signal. It leaves you hanging, but gives you hope that maybe they do find others and get out of the monster bug mist.

I disliked the ending of "The Safety of Objects".
