James, I'm not sure about the one young lady from "Port Charles," but yes, Ken Jennings did not lose until his 75th game, when a lady by the name of Nancy Zerg beat him.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I too am a game show addict, and one reason I am glad to be back in my dorm is that I can watch GSN again (no cable at home). While this is a tough call, I'd probably have to say my favorite game show is Family Feud - it just has such a great play-along factor, and I'm also a big fan of the late Ray Combs. Other favorites include Card Sharks, Jeopardy!, Scrabble, Pyramid (mostly the Clark versions), Match Game (but not the '98 version), Blockbusters, Lingo, To Tell The Truth, and of course The Price is Right. Wheel of Fortune also used to be good up until the mid-90s, but as others have said here, the show is just ridiculous now. Also, during my elementary school years, I used to obsessively watch Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego, and having recently watched an episode in the Museum of TV & Radio, the show is as great as I remembered it.

Also, regarding TPiR announcers - I too was rooting for Randy West, and I hope he finds another prosperous announcing gig sometime soon, but I have warmed up to Rich Fields. He clearly has lots of respect for the show and for Johnny and Rod, and I think it shows in his delivery and pacing. His voice took some getting used to for me, but now I'm fine with it. By the way, I'm an aspiring announcer myself, and I must admit that announcing on a major national game show is my dream job.

I like Jeopardy, but I also like Survivor and Lost; Fear Factor is cool, but it could be just plain old gross. I wish that they would have a Harry Potter based Jeopardy for an episode; they could do lots of stuff with that.

OK, now I am going nuts! I just found out that this week on GSN, they have gotten to the point of Password Plus where they changed the format around (now $500 for a win, meaning more puzzles and a switch of partner midgame, and $5,000 added to the Alphabetics jackpot every time it is not won) Darn it I wish I still had GSN so I could have caught this moment on tape!! !

On the bright side, looks like I am reviving this thread after a while...

Thanks James...I've been wanting to revive this thread but couldn't think of what to post :)

BTW, I'd be glad to tape and send you anything you'd like off GSN.

Send? Don't you guys live like one town apart from each other? Oh, wait. That Rt. 1 traffic's a killer. Maybe this is one time it's good to go postal.

Some questions for anyone who saw the PW+ in question...I have some nitpicky questions about this new era in the program. I am basing this on the episodes I have from 1982, and wonder if these happened in the first week of the new rules...

- Has the password readout in front of the desk changed from yellow to white yet?
- Have they chopped "It's more than Password..." from the opening, and do they now call Tom the "star" rather than the "host"?

No on the first two counts. I didn't notice whether Tom was referred to as the "host" or "star". Bob Hilton was sub-announcing, BTW.

Here it is! The longest American game show theme song in history!

http://www.tekcities.com/jeopardy/hs2002.zip

Just unzip the sound file and click on the file name. It is in zip format.

Mikibasci, your AOL SN seems to no longer work. Are you still out there on the Net somewhere? We need to get back in touch.

Putting together a site like Wrongplanet is not exactly "Square Biz" for Alex.

And it probably doesn't cost him "Chump Change" to run this site either. :D

If you got my joke, you deduced that "square biz" means simple.

Or Lord of the Rings would be cool, too. Then there might be the possibility that I could get a few of the questions right. ;)

Jeopardy is cool, and I especially like the categories that I can answer the questions before the contestants can because that is always fun to try, even if I get the wrong answers sometimes.

I've seen that GSN brought back the Newlywed Game. I wonder how soon they will bring back The Gong Show and the $1.98 Beauty Contest?
