Why? I don't see what is so bad about anime.

Anime is probably better than a lot of US made cartoons.

maybe they want it banned because of the pornographic element. some seem to think that that is anime entirely which is not so.

I think XXXHolic is cool too. can't wait to see the movie.

I doubt children have access to pornography of an animated sort.

And if they do, the parents should keep a better track on what their children do.

Good news, there is a petition that is against banning anime. It must be new though because the amount of people that have signed it (577) pales in comparison to the 8k signatures the one for banning it has.

Well I find to dumb to ban Anime because people are assuming to much about things in our society.

I recently watch the first two Hellsing Ultimate and they are so wicked to watch.

Nobody who actually understood what Anime was would try to ban it.

That would be like deciding to ban CGI cartoons or Walt Disney Cartoons etc.. or Stop Motion.

It's a Genre not a subject.

Please, could you tell me why do people like what you like so much? We have varied tastes, that's part of being human...

This is the best anime of all time:

- Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin) Really, without this there wouldn't be anime in my life.
- All Dragon Ball , yes, it is quite ridiculous, but it is so sincerely ridiculous that it is excellent, you learn to love it, some guys have cried in the final episode..
- Naruto , Yep, it is awesome.
- Full metal alchemist , This one is badass as long as you forget about the crappy last part of the last season. This also has moments in which you cry.
- Gundam Wing .
- Saikano (My girlfriend is a super weapon) The drama, my gosh everyone I know who has seen this has cried.
- Burst Angel , just forget about the chessy exploitation of the female body , the plot is quite nice once you go past that.

I've seen quite a bit of anime I just can't get into... such examples are Neon Genesis (mecha dramas bore me to tears) and Great Teacher Onizuka (f___ing sicko).

Generally I can't stand shows that are 90% fan-service.

Of the list that I absolutely love, I can't go past:

* My HiME - love the mix of action and chick-flick
* Noir - the ending drove me nuts cos the mysteries still weren't completely solved, but I loved how it unfolded
* Negima! - Hillarious! A bit of fan-service, but great story. Watched this after work one night, and nearly woke up the whole house with my laughing.
* Midori Days - A bit of fan-service, but on the whole a great love story, and a hoot to watch.
* Full Metal Panic! - I nearly fell off my bed watching this, and the subsequent "Fumoffu!" series. This has its share of fan-service too.
* Ranma 1/2 - You don't see anime like this anymore! Awesome gender-bending action.

I am currently watching:

* Cromartie High School - Not recommended for one's first foray into anime - it will weird you out at first. Great story, a lot of stills (it is based on the manga, it even admits to it - the main character often forgets which one he's in!), turns over every action-anime cliche there is!
* Fate/Stay Night - nicely thought out magic anime, more on the serious side than conventional anime.

Say, how do people here like watching it, subbed or dubbed? Japanese audio with English subtitles, or English audio only? I do Japanese - i feel you get a better experience.
