Jory - I envy that you are just watching the Shield for the first time (?) - it has great rewatch value but nothing like the first time - you've got a lot of great stuff in store the rest of season 6 and through the series end at the end of Season 7.
Yeah, I've been more than pleased with it. It's been much better than
Sons of Anarchy. That show keeps circling the toilet bowl faster and faster each season, but
The Shield just keeps getting better. One more episode of Season 6 and then Season 7 and I'm done, sadly.
Oh well, it's not like I don't have a million other shows lying around... I still need to finish
Deadwood,
Elementary,
Godzilla: The Series,
Monty Python's Flying Circus,
The Muppet Show,
Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, and
Star Trek: The Original Series, and I think I still have a few episodes of
Mission: Impossible and
Leverage left, and I've got some shows on my shelf that I haven't even started like
3rd Rock from the Sun,
Grounded for Life, and
Hustle, and soon I'll have
Crossbones,
Dracula,
The Following,
Penny Dreadful... I'm up to my ass in TV shows.
Haven't watched most of what's next on your list but Deadwood is well worth finishing - too bad that it ended way too early.
As for the Shield, I won't spoil anything but especially in the context of other shows that ended around the same time (I'm looking at you, Sopranos) the ending to the Shield was masterful - closure with ambiguity, not just F'ing ambiguity.
