I am curious to see this. Was it any good? I trust your taste in movies Jory.

It's pretty good overall. Very well acted, shot, and directed. My only problem was with the script. There are two main stories, one involving the conspiracy to hide the true author of Shakespeare's plays, and one involving the scheming of various people who are fighting over who will succeed Elizabeth on the English throne. The first is done very well but the second is botched. There are too many characters we're expected to keep track of, each of whom is hiding something and has a secret plan, and every few minutes there's a revelation that changes everything we thought we knew about who certain characters are and what their relationship to others is. It's far too convoluted and practically impossible to follow. I would still recommend it, but I would suggest not trying too hard to follow the political scheming, unless you enjoy having a headache.

The Corridor People - 1966 Brit cult tv series, all in one sitting. If you like The Avengers old style, this is like a much cheaper version of that on a lot more acid.

Obvious path of inspiration to The Prisoner.

Watched with Blu-ray audio commentary by writer/director Michael Almereyda, actor Ethan Hawke, and Shakespeare biographer Anthony Holden.

Pixels

Unseen aliens discover a 1982 capsule containing video feeds of classic arcade games. However, they mistake it as a declaration of war and they attack the Earth in the form of the old video games.

Anne of Green Gables (1985 TV mini series----still as good as I remembered it.)

Saw Spectre over the weekend and really enjoyed it. Not quite as good as Skyfall, but still, a very entertaining movie.

Very good. I have all three of the movies on DVD. I like the third one where Gilbert go off and fight in the first world war.

The Martian

I finally had a chance to see this yesterday. It was a terrific movie and Matt Damon's wisecracks about being stuck on Mars made the movie unusually entertaining.

Victor Frankenstein

It's opening weekend was not good, but I enjoyed the story and the characters. It is not a strict retelling of the novel. I think it is more of a prequel. Daniel Radcliffe was very good as "Igor" the "hunchback." The quotes are I believe well deserved. James McAvoy is great as well as Victor Frankenstein. I would goes so far as to say that Victor is a bit obsessive, maybe nuts. At the very least, he is very enthusiastic. One surprise for me was Andrew Scott playing an inspector with Scotland Yard. I know him as Moriarty on Sherlock, and recently as C in Spektre. I always expect him to be a bad guy, but wow, he was with Scotland Yard. How bad could he be?
