That's an amazing movie, based on one of the Bard's lesser known works, Titus Andronicus.

I liked The Tempest (from the same director) more, but neither of them set me on fire. I keep searching for Shakespeare films that can match the best of them (Throne of Blood, Polanski's Macbeth, the Branagh and Almereyda Hamlets, Branagh's Much Ado About Nothing, Luhrmann's criminally underrated Romeo & Juliet), but I apparently search in vain.

Coriolanus and Cymbeline were pretty good, though.

I recently saw The Peanuts Movie. It was actually quite good. The animation is beautiful. It really looks like the animation from the original comics, but it still has the computer animated look to it. It also paid homage to some classic peanuts moments like 'dog germs', the red baron, and the football gag. They even feature the wall Charlie Brown and Linus have conversations at. I would recommend it.

The Last Winter.

First rate psychological horror film about oil company hatchet man Ron Perlman taking charge of an expedition into a federally protected area of Alaska, near the Arctic Circle during the winter, that had formerly been deserted after an earlier attempt to drill. As one after another of the team loses his sanity and dies out in the snow, it becomes clear by the time it's too late that the melting permafrost has released something terrible that hearkens back to the Native American Wendigo myths.

The Martian. Liked it

Spectre. Has got good reviews, but it seemed so...vacant.

Someone really screwed up the marketing for this one. Not only did Alone in the Dark get horrible reviews and bomb at the box office, this "sequel" has nothing to do with it, aside from being loosely based on the same series of video games. So why the hell would you title it Alone in the Dark II instead of giving it a subtitle to distant it from the previous movie? It's a far better film, but nobody will ever know or care since they made it look like a sequel to a movie everyone hated. Secondly, they didn't bother to include a single name from the well-known cast (Rick Yune, Danny Trejo, Lance Henriksen, Bill Moseley) anywhere on the DVD cover.

Good job sabotaging what's a decent little horror thriller, guys. :thumleft: :|
