Saw Princess and the Frog again. It's really good. I started to like Charlotte the second time I saw it (even though my mom says she gives her a headache).
Is it me or does it have too much of a Pinocchio complex? The whole wishing upon a star thing. For crying out loud! Ray is pretty much a cajin (sp?) firefly version of Jiminy Cricket.

Alvin and the Chipmunks (the first film)

It wasnt horrid but pretty cheesy and suffered from sloppy writing. But to me 20th Century Fox treated this franchise better than what they did to Garfield...

What they did to Garfield was TOTAL RAPE!! !

The only one I liked out of the three was Merriweather, only because Flora was pushing her around so much that I was able to relate.

A Single Man

Excellent performance by Colin Firth
as a grieving man. If you don't like the
content of the book, don't see the movie.

It's more of a character study
than an actual movie, not much story.

Within the past week or so, I've seen Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd and Phantom of the Opera. That's more movies than I usually see in an entire year. Here's what I thought of them:

Edward Scissorhands is a very heartfelt movie, the best I've seen in a long time. What makes this movie so poignant, I think, is that Tim Burton considers this film to be his favorite and most personal work, meaning he put his heart and soul into it. It really shows.

Sweeney Todd is yet another Burton/Depp collaboration. Despite being very dark and bloody, the music is gritty and catchy and the colorwashed setting really evokes the feeling of London back in the olden days. You can't help but love the crazy characters.

Phantom of the Opera is pretty good, despite what the critics say. I think the singers did a phenomenal job and I like the visuals.

The Road - and believe me, it is every bit as dark and depressing as the novel

but what can I say...I love this kind of stuff! 8)

Between my last post and this one I've seen: V for Vendetta, Repo: The Genetic Opera, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

V for Vendetta had some pretty epic parts, especially in the last 20 minutes, but there was too much dialogue and I didn't really like the parts without V in them.

Repo: The Genetic Opera was absolutely terrific; it was much better than I expected it to be. I loved all of the songs and all of the characters, especially the Largo siblings and, of course, the Grave Robber.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show was a lot of fun to watch, but the ending was really sad. Even though it's not a porno, it's still extremely inappropriate by most peoples' standards, so I don't recommend it to anyone below the age of 18.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (the Tim Burton version), was another enjoyable film. Pardon the pun, but it's quite a sweet show. The visuals are impressive, especially if you know that it was done with as little CGI as possible. Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka could compete with Edward Scissorhands in terms of sheer cuteness and possible AS behavior.

Quite disappointing, unfortunately.

gonna go watch Kiki's Delivery Service. Another great Hayao Miyazaki movie. My favorite character is Jiji. He's so funny.

Jiji reminded me to much of Salem from "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" in the English Dub at least.

Anyway, I watched Precious today and it is every bit as dark and brilliant as I hoped it would be. It's so dark and depressing and disturbing yet it's got some dark funny moments. Think third season of Moral Orel dark and funny.
