After Earth was on telly. From M. Night ShameAboutTheLastFilm, as Mark Kermode calls him.

Will Smith is a charismatic, enjoyable screen presence with some very capable chops. Jaden Smith, not so much. Mind, I don't think it was nepotism that was holding the film back from 'eh, s'alright', let alone brilliance.

IMO, a reason why After Earth flopped back in 2013 was because Shyamalan got carried away with filming too many big-budget films.

However, I do agree with you about Will Smith.

I had heard that the movie was #1 on opening day but then word spread really fast about how bad it was that it flopped at #3 by the time the weekend was up.

After I saw The Fast & Furious 7, I felt like meh... ain't gonna' watch it again. Definently not up to the previous ones.
