Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of The Black Pearl. It's probably the only movie I've seen where I can say that the ending went exactly the way I wanted it to.

The White Ribbon - very interesting, will need a second viewing when it comes out on dvd.
Avatar - I don't understand all the hype
Two Lovers - bought the dvd immediately afterwards. Great film (although it did set off a depression that I couldn't kick for a few days but it's because it was done so well and I really connected with the main character).

The last movie I saw was The Wolfman. I actually quite enjoyed it, even though it wasn't really the best monster movie I've ever seen. Can't exactly go wrong with werewolves carving people up with their teeth and claws, can you?

Especially if one of them is Anthony Hopkins :)

Anthony Hopkins is a werewolf?! Maybe I will go see that this weekend!

Actually I'm pretty psyched about Benicio Del Toro as a werewolf. The only thing cooler would be Luis Guzman as a werewolf.

I saw Avatar today, in IMAX 3D. Beautiful, amazing and sad.

Moon - the plot is a little out there when you think of corporate cost/benefit/risk analysis but it was still entertaining.

^Moon is my favourite movie from last year! Nobody around here has even heard of it unless I mentioned it to them.

My friend actually handed me a DVD and said watch it - I'd never heard of it either. I'm about to send him a facebook message and mention that I think this is what could happen if a company gets too much TARP money and runs out of things to do with it :) .

Saw "Revanche" by Götz Spielmann - In the end, it was quite good although I didn't particularly like the first half hour. I like stories that address issues of ethical choices and ambiguities. I recommend it if you are into dark stories.

Then I saw "Stingray Sam" which is a serial kind of sequel to "The American Astronaut" Both the music and the story were more appealing in "American Astronaut" but I'm glad Cory McAbee is keeping at it. (I really recommend looking "The American Astronaut" up on You Tube if you haven't seen a really good low budget, black and white rock and roll musical sci-fi western in a while.) Smoking Aces 2 - Tried to weave together a more epic plot, entertaining but certain things fell apart. Probably the best part of it for me "Minotaurs are hooved creatures of mythology - I think he meant 'miniatures'".

Hurt Locker - This is where its a bit hard not to go off on a political soap box. It vibes like an Oliver Stone movie but, rather than make me feel anti-war it makes me realize that people who are willing to go over and die for our liberties are, IMO, far better human beings to those who won't, and that leaves my opinion of those who see soldiers as bloodthirsty killers wanting to get their guns off as something that I literally can't put into words on this site.

I saw The Princess and the Frog last week. It was fantastic (though "Up" is marginally better in my opinion)
