In The Heart Of The Sea.

A young Herman Melville interviews a haunted, alcoholic sailor who had been the last living survivor of the Essex whaling ship, hoping to find meat for his new novel, Moby Dick. He tells Melville a tale of terror and shame, where an unready captain, Pollard, is given command due to nepotism, at the expense of his first mate, Chase, who has experience under his belt, but who is born lower class. The narrator, who was only a teen boy during the voyage, recounted how they had sought whales in the middle of nowhere, only to find the bull protecting his pod, which destroyed the Essex. The few survivors were forced to resort to cannibalism in order to survive before they are rescued, which the narrator never forgives himself for. I sincerely liked this movie, though I admit, I was cheering for the whale.

not a person who watches movies often, so sitting through fellowship of the ring, fantasia, wizard of oz, hunt for red october, alice in wonderland and having just finished independence day in about two weeks was a big change. i guess i liked all of them even though i am quite terrible at following films.

they are all on VHS. my sister mocks me for being "hipster" and "indie" when the reality is simply that they are cheap as hell, for no one else wants them, and the difference in quality is negligible to me personally compared to DVD and watching them in multiple sittings is easier.

[the DVDs are equally as cheap, but the store's particular selection doesn't interest me as much]
