Ditto as "Patton", and also as the "Flim Flam Man".

Morgan Freeman was born to play Nelson Mandela, and got to do so superbly in "Invictus".

their first choice was rod steiger who more resembled and sounded like him [the real gen. patton had a clarion tenor voice, not the basso growl that scott had], but steiger had just finished making "the sergeant" and didn't want to make another "goddamned war movie" so soon, in his words.

I understand that after Scott had won the Oscar for his portrayal of Patton, Steiger was kicking himself for turning down the role.

he was the perfect actor to play "the sergeant" but I bet he thought he chose the wrong war movie to star in.

I have a list of actors/actresses that could go on for a long time, but the main actor I would like to mention here is John Lloyd Young, who played the character of Frankie Valli in Clint Eastwood's Jersey Boys. Young also played Frankie Valli in the broadway production of Jersey Boys.

They'd be stupid not to cast him in the upcoming Blade Runner sequel.

Doesn't look like anybody mentioned Steve Martin as Navin Johnson in the Jerk.
I would also give kudos to Gene Hackman, Robin Williams, and Nathan Lane for their spot-on Birdcage stereotypes.
In addition nobody but Rowan Atkinson could ever be Mr. Bean, IMO.
Oh, one more...Madeline Kahn as Eunice Burns in What's Up Doc, as well as Streisand's masquerade being "Burnsie".

My favorite line in that movie, is: "I was born a poor, black child". LOLOLOL I repeated it, for AGES----until people just didn't get it, anymore!! LOL

I would also give kudos to Gene Hackman, Robin Williams, and Nathan Lane for their spot-on Birdcage stereotypes.

I LOVED that movie----and, I agree, about those actors! Also, I'd add Hank Azaria (the "butler")----OMG, TOO funny!! LOL

In addition nobody but Rowan Atkinson could ever be Mr. Bean, IMO.

I think Rowan is a friggin' GENIUS!! You should hear how Richard Curtis, the Director of "Love, Actually", talked about him, doing that movie. IMO, Rowan is the type of actor who can make ALOT out of NOTHIN'----meaning, he can be given only a handful of lines, and he makes it a ROLE----THAT'S an actor, IMO----Laurie Metcalf (Sheldon's mom, in TBBT) is the same way----TOTAL genius!!

Oh, one more...Madeline Kahn as Eunice Burns in What's Up Doc, as well as Streisand's masquerade being "Burnsie".

Madeline Kahn was always fabulous, as well!!
