Yeah I'm a big time Whovian. I first got exposed to Doctor Who with the 1996 movie which was a terrible way to get introduced to the show. Later I saw the new series and got hooked. My favorite Doctors are 9th, 10th, 11th, 5th, and 6th.

I like the 6th Doctor least of all. The 8th Doctor is actually a good Doctor in the audio books. My first Doctor was 10 [David Tennant].

Part of the problem with 6th is that Turner seemed to have no real clue what he was doing with the character. The big example of this being the stupid clown suit they put 6th in. In the audio novels he really comes into his own though. Generally speaking I see 11th as 6th done right.

I'm currently in the 13th series of the original Doctor Who. Great series. So far the third doctor is my favourite (I'm watching the fourth right now).

Third Doctor: "Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow!"
Me: "Doctor, you have no idea what you're doing, right?"

I still have no idea what "reversing the polarity" means :)

Who is you favourite out of the first four ones?

I just really liked the UNIT story lines, I think.

I like Four best, and Two second best. My aunt even knitted a Fourth Doctor scarf for me! :nerdy:

I'm not sure if this has been discussed on this thread or not therefore, I'll take my chances whom would you say has been the most difficult villian for the Doctor to defeat in literal or symbolic terms? I'd say my answer goes to either "The Master" or "The Daleks". The Master since he's always scheming to get back at the doctor and he always seem to be on the verge of death and seemingly comes back. The Daleks since, they have over a great amount of time have learned to better deal with the Doctor as, I can remember the had been a Dalek which developed emotions or something along those lines...

I would say that the Doctor's dark side is the hardest villain for him to defeat.

From what I've watched I feel that every time the Daleks appear they have a new plan with which the Doctor is not yet familiar. The Master is different in the sense that the Doctor knows him, and tries to get to his minds. But he doesn't try to get to the Daleks' minds, as he can't.

^That's true, but what about how the Daleks often say that the Doctor 'would make a good Dalek'?

That's because he's highly intelligent. Still, the Master has human emotions as well which influence him. I felt that when the Master offered the Doctor partnership in ruling the Earth it was a "better" offer, as he would have a "friend" of sorts.

I've yet to understand how exactly the Dalek mind (or equivalent of) works. They obey, but to what purpose? Do they have any emotions? Even survival instincts are somewhat emotional.

Yes, I've seen many different episodes with various doctors taking on the Daleks and yes, they always keep coming up with more sinister plans each and every time they encounter the doctor in all his many guises.
