Yeah!

I have a little hobby, that being filmmaking.

I usually film roller coaster related stuff, but sometimes I do little movies and junk like that. Not home movies, scripted stuff.

I had an idea recently. What if someone made a documentary on Asperger's? When I say "someone", I mean an Aspie, and when I say "documentary", I mean documentary, like how it was discovered and what it's like to live with it.

A documentary on AS made by Aspies, to show NTs (and Aspies that don't know they have AS) what exactly AS is.

Good idea? I was considering doing it and sending it to some indy film festivals... because I love filming things.

Would it work?

UPDATE: Project Aspy underway. Just gotta get my camera fixed and filming will begin. I'll update the topic periodically with news on the status.

I think that it's a very good idea.

Go for it. The worst that could happen is nothing, and anything other than nothing is pretty okay, I guess. After all, in show business, isn't "there's no such thing as bad publicity" the maxim?

TB Samurai, I think your avatar is incredibly offensive. If I were a moderator I'd make you change it.

Seriously? Sweet!

I'll definately start working on it once I get my camera fixed. I'll start by interviewing some of the people in the local Aspie group I joined.

I'm gonna use a JVC camera to film it and Adobe Premiere Elements to edit it.

In the edits I'll add a montage on how AS was discovered. If someone could help me by researching it along side me, it'll really help, and you'd be added into the credits.

Probably gonna cost me next to nothing, but it may have a slight cost, so I'll look out for that.

UPDATE: Working title? Project Aspy.

NOTES: I-CD 10, I-CD 9: Aspy Codes.

Don't even get me started... If it's offensive, then so is my name. It's best to just leave me alone when it comes to TB.

this is cool! I would not mind doing some research on Hans Asperger. With your interviews I think you should find like 3 or 4 people who have particularly interesting/compelling stories, as opposed to a big bunch of people. Aspie kids are really interesting, very cute and endearing, it would be great if you could find some somehow.

Maybe this will become clearer once you get some interviews done, but I think there should be some theme to the documentary, to give it structure and not just a general thing on Asperger's. Like maybe focus on the journey of going from childhood->adolescence->adulthood, and how having Asperger's affects this journey. I dunno, thats just an idea.

Way off-topic:

Dear T.B. Samurai

I do not think your avatar is offensive, just unique. I went to your deviant art site, and saw the drawing you did called "Shinpachi Nagakura." I really liked it. In fact, if you switched the brown eyes to hazel ones, it would look just like me! (Except I don't think I would be wearing the "keep away from me" look all the time, and right now I have bleach-blond hair.)

Sincerely,
Dex
P.S. I think your artwork is awesome! I am so glad people can draw like that!

Thank you. That makes me feel a little less angry. It ticks me off when people tell me to change my avatar and stuff. Tuberculosis is my favorite thing, and it makes me want to kick holes in the wall when people tell me things like that.

I think a documentary is a brilliant idea!

One thing ... how about including some adults (like me) who discovered they had AS when they were out of school, and how we deal with it in our workplaces, within our personal lives, etc.?

A documentary about Asperger's... such a brilliant idea! I don't think enough people in the world actually understand what autism really is, or how we live with it. I think this would be a great way to educate the masses.

Good luck on the project!

Yay, a documentary! :D

Might be a good idea to discuss the script here first before actually filming. :)

^Unscripted! *blows kazoo*

"Nice avatar!! !! Bobobo!"

NOTE: When interviewing, have someone introduce themselves as:

"Hi, I'm (first and last name), I'm (age), and I have (autism/Asperger's Syndrome)"
