Liked it. The details might've been fictionalized, but it seems awfully plausible. I forget if it's from that movie, but it brings to mind the line "it's Africa," meaning if it's bad and happening in Africa the world doesn't care -- i.e. the Somalis having european ships dumping toxic waste into their waters. Also, I've read Monsanto has been selling some countries in Africa genetically engineered corn seeds -- the seeds can germinate, but result in infertile corn that can't be used as seed. So the people have no choice but to keep buying these mutant seeds every year. They can never become self-sufficient from Monsanto.
I only know of John LeCarre from the movies (TCG and "The Tailor of Panama" (one of my favorites)), but he does seem a little fatalistic. Nonetheless, I like the movies.
