The producer Bill Mechanic got some things to say about the actual state of Hollywood.

As far as I'm concerned, they can hang if they continue putting out most of the trash you see these days.

1. EXPLOSIONZORR!! ! FTW!! !
2. MORE EXPLOSIONZORR!! ! FTW x2!! !
3. Hot girls.
4. A plot a brain-dead monkey can follow.
5. MORE hot girls.
6. A remake.
7. Anything by Friedberg and Seltzer, Michael Bay or any European hack (Uwe Boll, anyone?)
8. CGI animals.
9. A token black comic relief character
10. Uhh... EXPOSIONZORR!! !

That, my friends, is what the people want nowadays. It's not just Hollywood that's going down, it's the intelligence rate of the planet.

This is exactly why I want to become an animator/director.
I want to make movies that are original, creative, & enjoyable.
I'm fed up with over-the-top special effects, numerous plot holes, and lousy remakes.

But for making a movie you need money and distribution. Where will you take it if not from the big Hollywood studios. What are you're gonna do if they don't like your ideas. There are the ones reponsibles of this situation after all.

If they don't like my ideas, then it's their loss. If they want to waste money on movies that suck instead of getting well-earned profits for actually making an effort, its their own fault.
I know many people and have several friends who are also very talented, have great ideas, and disgusted with the current state of Hollywood. I'm hoping we can come together and bring back good movies.

Perhaps I am dreaming too big. But it's better than having no dream at all.

Unfortunately, the average person won't stop seeing bad movies :( It's like paint: the paint is thinned down to cover the widest area, but in doing so it loses most of its colour strength until it is just a pale tint.

Sad truth.

Most of today's movies consist of the following:

Comic book adaptations
Young Adult Book adaptations
Modernized daptations of things pertaining to 1980s pop culture that only a few people give a **** about anymore
Sequels to any of the above

This is where most of the box office money is coming from. I wonder what's gonna happen when Hollywood execs suck these areas dry.

They keep remaking movies from the 80's and it's starting to annoy me a remake of red dawn is coming out next year.
