I've been a Red Dwarf fan since my childhood and I got to see the whole new episode of Back to Earth on YouTube. It was pretty good, with some excellent references to Blade Runner, but at the same time I didn't really like the setting very much. But it did bring back memories of an older episode (not gonna say what cause I don't want to spoil it.)

To others who might've seen it already, what'd you think?

I am a big Red Dwarf fan, and think in some ways that Rimmer is an Aspie. But maybe mildly. I don't know. That's up for debate. Anyway, I saw the supposed season nine of RD. It was a cop-out really. An excuse for a season, and a very poor replacement for the movie they WERE going to make. They waited too long to make the movie, and so it looked more like geriatric Red Dwarfers looking for an excuse to make one laugh. Sorry. On a scale of 1-10, a 3 at best.

I havent seen it yet, but my father wasn't too impressed. Its a shame because they completely b*******d up that last two series! Bring back Rob Grant!

Kryton has more Autistic traits than Rimmer.

I wasn't too impressed, but hey, they did it for the fans and I appreciate it.

Thought these were terrible. Only really laughed at parts of the Blade Runner parody.

I was disappointed, but will keep watching if it does come back as ordinary red dwarf is better than no red dwarf

I started a thread on Red Dwarf in October:

I agree that Back to Earth is a big disappointment. If age is a problem, I don't see why they couldn't use CGI.

I think it was the script more than anything. They were relying on nostalgia too much rather than creating new gags.

Rimmer isn't aspie, he's just a plain old pain in the neck.

Some shows really do "finish". For instance, I can't even imagine new Seinfeld's. All good shows need to eventually end.
But I LOVE the Red Dwarf series especially the later ones with Chloe Annette. I will NEVER forget when Krytie was classified as a woman. I almost died with laughter. He's was painting his foot as though it were a toe nail. In the background, the song "Sometimes, It's hard to be a woman" was playing in the background.....pure hilarity!! !

Lister's accent is Liverpudlian. Love it!

I've watched it through twice, and I didn't like it either time. I adore Red Dwarf - I love series 1, 2, 7, and 8 just as much as the more well-received mid-period ones - but the new series didn't do anything for me.
