I'm intrigued to ask this question because of my own lack of knowledge and interest in the topics I'm going to list.

Before finding out about AS, I was wondering if I was weird because of my total absence of interest in popuilar culture. It was holding me back in social situations, and I was genuinely worried about communication with any potential partner because most people are likely to have some interest in entertainment.

I've mentioned in other posts that I have a friend with an autistic son - her name is Dorothy. She suspected I have AS, and I think she was observing me for a long time to confirm that. One of the things we did was watched one of the Test the Nation programs (national interactive quiz shows) and it was the one about entertainment. I knew pretty much none of the answers, and she was talking about this and that celebrity and I didn't know anything about them. I found that embarrassing at the time, but now realise it's just down to AS and focused interests elsewhere.

My lack of interest in popular culture is evidenced by me neither having or wanting any CD's or DVD's or even a CD or DVD player. I also don't read magazines like Hello or whatever, or any celebrity magazines like that, neither do I have any interest in doing so.

However... would anyone here consider that they have their focused interests in any or all of the following areas:

- Showbiz
- Entertainment/the world of entertainment
- Popular culture and celebrities
- Celebrity lifestyles
- Movies (i.e. not just specific ones, but having a broad appreciation of movies)
- Music (i.e. having a broad appreciation of)
- TV/the media (not just specific favourite programmes, but again, a broad appreciation)

Obviously, some Aspies might have their chief interests in the above.
