Wish the movie wasn't on HBO, so I can be able to watch it.

Does anyone know the DVD release date?

We don't have HBO, so we'll have to wait for the DVD. She was speaking at a conference in Austin about two hours from San Antonio when I learned about the movie.

Just ended here. I thought it was excellent.

When I heard that Claire Danes was playing Temple Grandin I thought "Oh No" and what a mistake but I have to say I thought she was so good. The whole story was excellent - they had to rush it along when you wished they'd have time to show you even more but it had to be within a limited time.

I have to admit, I had tears in my eyes several times while watching and that never, ever happens. I never cry or tear up at a movie. I enjoyed it so much.

I think everyone involved should be very very pleased with how this turned out.

I liked it.

I think they did a good job at showing how she thinks in pictures. A lot of it seemed pretty familiar.

Claire Danes did a great job in the role. I think she nailed a lot of Temple Grandin's mannerisms.

Especially when she sang (off key, by the way) -When You Walk Through A Storm- at the graduation ceremony. That one got to me.

I've written to the TV Guide to ask if we'll be getting it here. Fingers crossed! :)

And Temple's doctor did say she was "autistic" in the movie, and I have read many books that say she was diagnosed with autism around the age of four. As young children, both groups seem to share some of the same coping techniques, and melt=down behaviors. The two terms Asperger's and Autism were coined by two doctors in seperate countries who had groups of children with "similar behaviors". The children in both groups had the same behaviors, so the disorder was the same. The men just named it differently.

I'm also wondering about this. Seems like everyone has watched it already, but we don't have HBO here in Toronto, and I'm not sure where and when the DVD will be available. Any information?

Also, Temple Grandin is not Asperger's. She is HFA. But it doesn't matter with the new DSM, since everything will soon officially be lumped together into one big category, anyway. It's often hard to distinguish between the two, and there's really no point in doing so, since she's still on the spectrum no matter what.

It's doing the rounds if you know where to look. I'll get around to it at some point.
