Am I the only Christian that likes this movie?

I saw that movie because I wanted to see what all the hubaloo was about. I hear that the "killing God" aspect is the idea of orginised religon, not God Himself. I don't like how most Christians try to force their ideas and beliefs on me. I like to form my own. But anway, I was bored out of my mind watching this.

Probably not.

The movie was wonderful and anyone who's actually read the book will find it impossible to like.

I do know there's an element in the Christian community that avoids this story because it challenges their beliefs and defies a lot of their theological standing, but just because something goes against your beliefs doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't like it. After all I'm an atheist and I have a huuuuge appreciation for a lot of the better works of Christian art like Catholic architecture, the poetry of John Milton and William Blake, etc.

Anyway, good movie, kudos on having great taste.

I saw the movie and thought it was entertaining and saw no huge anti-Christian message in it. I read the books and enjoyed them so much I was sorry when they were over. Just a great curl up on the couch read. I think my favorite was the "Subtle Knife". It reminds me of all the hoohah about The "Last Temptation of Christ". If people had read the book they would have realized the author, who also wrote "Zorba, the Greek" wrote from a deeply spiritual perspective.

You aren't. I enjoyed the film as well and am a Christian. I also read the books. I was a bit nervous by some of the messages in the books and movie but I still enjoyed the film, as well as the books.

Absolutely loved the books! The movie was good, but they messed up the plot a little too much for my taste.

The books are great, but I my opinion the film is awful. They changed far too much in an effort not to offend people. No film is ever as good as the book it is based on, but LOTR proved that a book-to-film adaption can still be done well. This one wasn't.

I read the books and I liked the first one, but the second and third one I really didn't like. It's been a few years, but I remember large parts of it were so boring I had to skip and I thought it had kind of a weird tone to it. The first book was so different from the others that it was kind of hard to believe they were the same series.
I never saw the movie since I normally avoid book to movie adaptations. They usually annoy me because they change things and leave out the best scenes.

Just my opinion.

I try to avoid movies with anti-Christian overtones in them. I felt rather uncomfortable watching Chocolat, particularly because it's directly critical of my specific branch of Christianity, and I am never, ever watching The Ninth Gate.

I never saw the movie as it didn't appeal to me. I read the books and although the first was good, the second was a waste of time and the third had a lousy ending...Kinda put me off wanting to see the movie.

I saw the movie and I quite enjoyed it. Was there really an anti-christian theme, because I didn't spot it, I thought it was more about spirituality versus science that in the name of progress attempts control and loss of morals (heart). If anything it would praise religeon for keeping people from makeing immoral decisions, and not letting science do what it wants. So what if it painted witches, gypsies and demons in a positive light.

The movie was okay, but I hate most any movie that ends with a "to be continued" just as you are really getting into the story.
