Recently I watched - a couple of times in the row, for I liked this movie so much for some reason (more precisely it being my being obsessed with kidnappings recently) that I had to repeat this experience A nice one, though the movie by itself isn't the best one, it rather seems like the director was doing his best to make a movie seeming oh, so sophisticated and having a deep meaning, but oh, well. The movie is French and presents the story of a girl, Gaelle, who a couple of years earlier got kidnapped by a lumberyard worker, Vincent, a reclusive loner who finally lets her out and a teenager has to deal with living on her own in the world, where people don't understand her.

The movie is... weird. We don't know why the man kidnapped her. It wasn't to satisfy his sexual needs with her kiddie body or later, with an adult one, for when the girl comes up with the proposition of sex herself, he gets angry, shouting at her he's no rapist and doing such things with a woman would be acceptable for him only if out of love. It's not for his need for company either - though presented as a loner, Vincent does have one closer workmate whom he invites once and doesn't seem socially inept while dealing with him, at all (anyway, a little girl isn't the best buddy for an adult person). He buys her any goods she wants but when complains he spends so much money on all that crap, Gaelle, hits him on his face with all her might, to which the captor doesn't protest and later on, he's found by her crying about this. They are like father and daughter rather than a kidnapper and his captive, with this difference fathers (unlike one is named Joseph Fritzl) don't keep their daughters locked up in their secret cellars underground.

Does anyone else know and like this movie, too?

That's all I could find on the net when it comes to the place where one can watch it with no problem - though it's in French and with the Polish translation foreshadowing its original language version.
