A month or so back it dawned on me that during the pauses between characters talking in a film, especially the really long breaks, where they're still holding eye contact, that the director my have intended the audience to take part in the conversation, or become the protagonist character, if you will.

Nowadays I find it frustrating to watch certain movies that are particularly demanding of my participation in the story. If I didn't think the movie wanted me to talk to it I could probably keep my cool and get sleepy, but something just tells me that's what movies are for.

Does anyone else talk to their movies?
