^^
Agreed on the Planet of the Apes remake.

X-Men 3 wasn't that good of a sequel, it felt like everything
was being rushed. The change in director didn't help the proceedings.

Spider-Man 3 was just bad.

While the original version with Christopher Lee is one of my favorite movies, the remake of "The Wicker Man" with Nicholas Cage deservedly landed itself on a list I recently read somewhere of the worst movies ever made.

Worst Remake: Tim Burton's remakes of Planet of the Apes and Alice in Wonderland. The only remake of his that I actually liked was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Now he's working on a Wizard of Oz remake. Burton, I beg you, please go back to doing original movies!
Worst Sequel: Just about every direct to video/DVD sequel of classic animated Disney movies
Worst Prequel: The Star Wars prequels
Worst Spinoff: Anything by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer (they're the two morons behind such crap films as Date Movie, Epic Movie, Disaster Movie, etc.)

I agree with the spinoffs. The guys who make these kinds of movies are horrible. Their not even funny.

The remake of The Hitcher comes to mind immediately. The sad thing was, as my wife and l left the theater with our friends, I mentioned to a twenty something usher that the original was a lot better. To which she answered, "I didn't know that was a remake!"
Am I really that old? :o

I loved Alice in Wonderland, because I identified very strongly with the character of Alice Kingsleigh, and I thought the Mad Hatter was adorable. All of the other characters were either funny, cute or cool. I agree with you about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Tim is not working on a Wizard of Oz remake; that is a rumor. He is, however, working on a remake of the 1960s goth soap opera called Dark Shadows, because Johnny Depp asked him to. But don't worry about Tim not being original anymore - He is already working on making a full-length movie out of one of his original short films he made in the 70s, Frankenweenie.

I saw the Fog remake and was horrified. Not because it was scary but because it was so NOT scary. The original John Carpenter film was genuinely spooky and had no special effects. And to think about it special effects are so not necessary for that film. All that is needed is some smoke machine and shadowy figures.

Others: Definately X-men 3 and the wolverine film. Blair Witch 2. The remake of Wicker Man.

I am fearful that a remake of Alien might be made. That would depress me because there is nothing wrong with that original film.

I never saw the remake of Halloween but heard it was shite.

I just didn't like the fact that they were trying to make a plot when Alice in Wonderland isn't really supposed to have one. Alice is supposed to be meandering around in a world full of nonsense. It feels like they just wanted to give Alice a sword and make her fight the Jabberwocky to make the movie look cool.

That's a common complaint lobbied against the film. But Tim Burton said he didn't want to do a story about a bunch of nonsense - he wanted to give the characters backstories and a storyline so that the viewers could get more emotionally attached to them. I understand that that didn't work for some people - particularly fans of the original books and/or the 50s animated version - but it certainly worked for me.

How could have I forgotten that misbegotten should-have-been abortion, Blair Witch 2?
Regarding The Fog - when I was a kid, I watched it on cable with a couple friends on a sleep over. One of my friends was so freaked out, he sat up all night in a chair, rather than going to sleep! With all its special effects, the remake didn't have the power to terrify children out of sleep!

The sequel to The Descent, I don't remember what it's called. It didn't have a single redeeming feature. I mean the first movie ended with the main b***h hallucinating her escape, and suddenly she's in a hospital bed, only to dragged back down only like two days after she escaped?

Now I'm mad.
