I'm not sure I understand how the Youtube clip you posted is related to the series Evangelion. Would you mind explaining what you intend for us to do?

Evangelion is considered the anime equivalent to Twin Peaks, which I am assuming that the video is from.

Describe a popular anime series in a nutshell?

Naruto: Worst. Ninja. Ever. He dresses in orange, and shouts all the time. This is stealthy??

Ghost In the Shell: When AIs can make choices, and people can replace body parts with cybernetics at will, how do you define "human"? Also, cybercops are cool. 8)

Neon Genesis Evangelion: The writer has major issues with religion and Freudian psychoanalysis, and he's working them out through this series. It's kind of a head trip.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: I am God, but I don't know that I am God. Make sure that I'm happy, or I will unintentionally destroy the universe.

Lucky Star: Blah blah blah cornet blah blah blah blah scared of the dentist blah blah blah moe blah blah I must not draw my friends this way blah blah blah.

Ronin Warriors: Sailor Moon but with male characters (despite predating Sailor Moon).

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle: Go to strange world. See familiar faces. Get feather. Move on to the next strange world. Repeat cycle.

Don't get me wrong. I really like these anime, but it's fun to make fun of them at times.

DragonBall: Basically, Journey to the West as a cartoon. Home to a few memes, such as "Over 9000" and "Brecktus". Funimation's greatest anime ever.

And sometimes, it takes rather long to power up.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Hard to fathom at times, and pretty dark after the halfway point, but ultimately good. The Watchmen of mecha anime.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Think NCIS meets Blade Runner, an excellent postcyberpunk police procedural that has both an intellectual and humane core. Human drama meets high technology.

Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT: Part martial arts saga, part comedy, part science-fiction (one it gets to Dragonball Z), and just cheesy enough to not take itself too seriously at the right times. Lots of padding, but pretty good despite this.

Death Note: Part detective thriller, part supernatural thriller. More twists and turns than a highway filled with chicanes, but with many excellent characters, including villainous protagonist Light Yagami, enigmatic, eccentric but brilliant detective L, and the bored shinigami (death god, or grim reaper) Ryuk. A must-see.

Monster: I am yet to see the anime, but from what I have read of the manga, an excellent thriller series that is the Japanese equivalent of The Fugitive, with a little of Red Dragon mixed in.

Inuyasha: Girl from modern-day Japan falls down a well and lands in feudal era. Meets up with half-demon teenager and finds out she's the reincarnation of his ex-lover/priestess who nailed him to a tree. Set out on quest to find pieces of a mystical jewel that will increase any demon's powers. Along the way, they meet allies, fight big bads and realize their mutual attraction.

Paranoia Agent: Shy animator who talks to her stuffed dog (a popular character she created) gets attacked by a kid on skates with a baseball bat. Same kid starts attacking other people who subconsciously want it to happen. Police detectives hunt for kid and find that he believes he's fighting evil. Entire scenario turns out to be in shy animator's head because of her guilt over letting her dog die when she was a kid. (Really.)

Fullmetal Alchemist: Two brothers experiment with alchemy in an attempt to bring back their dead mother. One loses an arm, the other loses his whole body. They embark on a journey to restore what was lost. Along the way, they learn more of alchemy's secrets, get involved in wars and political intrigue, and do a lot of growing up.

Loved these three, haven't seen them in a while, unfortunately.

K-ON!: cute girls do cute things, play music and have tea parties (and lots of cake).

Maria Holic: the ultimate lesbian pervert is allergic to men attends a Catholic school and gets tortured by the ultimate trap.

Hayate the Combat Butler: the unluckiest boy alive is mistaken for makeing a love confession and becomes a butler where destroying robots and such is a prerequeset.

Hatsukoi Limited: One of anime's most intricate web of love interests

I believe we've discussed this before, Quatermass. To Descartes: there are actually some comparisons between the two series. The introspective protagonists, bizarre situations, idiosyncratic characters and dialogue, not to mention the fact that both series were cancelled abruptly on ambiguous notes. I could totally see Shinji banging his head into a mirror after his rant and asking "How's Rei?"

RahXephon: Like Evangelion, but with imagery based off of the Mayan culture and is about the 2012 apocalypse (came out a few years before people really started to get into this). Also, they actually ended it well.

Reform Without Wasted Draws aka The Legend of Koizumi: A former Japanese PM facilitates diplomacy by playing a mean game of mahjong.

Hellsing (the manga/OVA): Nazis, vampires and Catholics all get involved in the bloodiest, most unrealistic no-holds-barred beat-down you've ever seen. There are obscure references to everything from quantum physics to Bruce Willis. Oh, and nearly everybody wears gloves and/or glasses.

Gurren Lagann: Evangelion's antithesis.

Pokemon is the perfect anime series, for today's animal lover. Each kid gets to bring home the pet of their choice, and the kid becomes the trainer, and than the pet becomes the teacher. Each kid and their pet team up, to fight various battles, against the bad guys. This is how the pets of the future could look.
