Just watched "Snowcake" with Sigourney Weaver. Canadian film. I liked it well enough to recommend it. It raised a good question. Are there children of Aspies? I don't have any kids, myself. What about you out there?

I haven't seen many movies with Sigourney Weaver in them, but she makes an excellent villain. :)

And to answer your question, neither of my parents have Asperger's (but I do), although my mom has some traits of autism.

No, I haven't. The only movies I've seen with her in them were Holes and Snow White: A Tale of Terror. That's why I think she makes an excellent villain.

Someone needs to see Alien, Aliens, Ghostbusters (1 and 2), etc. (the films that pretty much made her career were either horror/survival, corporate/politico, or a mix of both).

"Snowcake" is a rather serious, well made art film. It showed to me that Sigourney Weaver is really a good actress. We can't really compare her work in "Snowcake" to her main-stream Hollywood movies.

As for children, I read that Mary Meinel-Newport has children. Are there others?

OOO I can see this thread is going to bomb. Well, if you're reading this, and you want to see a good film about autism, check out "Snowcake" starring that woman in "Avatar" um, whatsername?

that was a great Canadian move, I recommend it. As all Canadian movies, it has to have depressing tragic parts, haha.

I thought it was a great contrast between Sigourney's character, and her hyper-social daughter, who was more like the parent.

She was supposed to be lower functioning though, so I don't think that really reflects on people with Asperger's ability to raise children.

I did not like Snowcake at all. The character was too far from reality according to my view and the movie did not feel good. But the acting was good.

I haven't seen that, but it sounds like I should check it out. I love Sigourney in the Alien films and in Avatar. I know that she supports Asperger's awareness, and spoke highly of a good book I currently have from the library called Asperger's from the Inside Out.

I have that same book! Michael John Carley. I was reading the reviews, and there she was, Sigourney Weaver. I heard she studied a lot for her role in "Snowcake".

Just watched it. It was pretty good, but some things I disliked. The Rickman/Moss relationship seemed forced and they had zero chemistry. Vivian (the daughter) seemed really Aspie, but she was just a writer??? Sigourney Weaver did a great job. Apparently the character was based on someone real? I would guess this was not an HFA or Aspie woman, but maybe someone mid-range?
